Yeah, that's a word count. You know it.

Six years in a row = awesomez.

Also... pretty sure Magic Rat is still ticked over the whole me trying to explain the history of Earth Day about six months ago (because y'all know how I am about misinformation being spread about, no matter what the reason is behind it), since it looks like she's still got my IP banned from commenting. Anyhow, it so happens that someone in our nano region is a huge fan of hers, and we've ended up in long convos about her works twice now. Thought she'd like to know, in case someone wouldn't mind passing along that info....

No title yet. But I found out what annoys Glorfindel.

Halfway. No title.

I carried a unicorn, though. (Yes, Britt, this unicorn's for you.)

I could keep going, but it would be into Gildor/Glorfindel... and I don't know if...

okay, 22690 now... and... *side steps away from the Erestor/Glorfindel lovers*

nm, final answer, 23026

Damn, that's almost a thousand more since I started the post... I should write Gildor more often. *ducks*

You know why the updates just have numbers, right? Because there's no title. This might be the first year I've had no title starting off. Actually, I think it is...

Write-in was good to me. Since I was at 10k going into it, I added 50% to my total in one day. And, I'm only 3k away from my brother now.

And, considering those of you reading are all pretty adamant that I teased you unnecessarily... here you are... though, I'll be redoing this part (adding more later) so it won't be a bore when it's in the final draft.

Accomplished. Not sure how. Very, very sleepy entire time writing. Think Glorfindel ended up on Erestor's lap. Wait, no, I know he did. Will need to undig myself from hole, but at least I'm into five digit numbers.

It's only day four, you say? Damn, how the hell did Jake manage to finish in five days (last year)??

Already I'm losing track of the excerpts...so here's an example of word pad...

Erestor stood at the bottom of the steps leading up to the house, picking lint from his robes and smoothing out the fabric. He took a deep breath when a solo rider galloped down the final hill to the valley where the house was. The warrior’s white fur lined cloak billowed out behind him like a wandering snowdrift, and Asfaloth snorted and stamped once they reached the doors of the stable. Glorfindel dismounted and a gentle pat and a few words sent his stallion into the stable towards his stall and a well-deserved rest. The golden warrior walked across the courtyard, crunching leaves from the past autumn beneath his feet as he traveled. His eyes were on Erestor the entire time, and while a pleasant smile graced his lips, he was cautious nonetheless.

I so could have written that in four words... but why bother? It's nanorific!

Best first three day total ever. I'm so used to that second day being completely red on the nano widget, taunting me. My personal goal is to keep it from going red at all during nano. I'm actually stopping *before* midnight tonight -- imagine that!

Nanowrimo has begun, and whilst I did panic (a little) throughout the morning (you see, last night, our over started on fire, and I've been using that as my excuse), I hit the write-in tonight, and was so glad we had one (last minute).

I now have 3330 words. I think that's my best day-one total so far.

And I have an excerpt. Oh, wait, summary first. Gilraen comes to Rivendell. That pretty much sums it up. Oh, and it's het. Yeah. I'm still trying to figure out how that happened, too.

Oh, and back to no title again. Yeah, that's pretty usual for me.

Okay, I had another thought on Nano. So, last year, I planned this half-Valinor, half-Shakespearian England monster that required a lot of research and omg the angst. It was an angsty time -- all the medical stuff, the two car accidents, etc. I started it, and an hour into NaNo looked over at rustyangel and basically said 'i can't do this anymore' (she and I hit the wordz, like, right after midnight. like, still in costume. like, on the floor of my living room. it was, like, awesome.) So I did a Nano 'reboot' and started into Unforgivable, and when that wasn't dark enough, Rainbow in the Dark happened.

I think I'm in a better place this year. A place where suicidal deer don't launch themselves at my vehicle, and medication doesn't cause a full-body rash. With that in mind, I think I might be able to tackle that one from last year again.

Only, instead of the crazy-ass England idea (shame on those of you who didn't scream 'crack-fic!' and try to stop me!!!), it'll just be Valinor, and I'll have Erestor there with Glorfindel. And last year at the kick-off, someone gave me a great idea to work into it if I needed more 'oomph', which was to... oh, wait, that would ruin the whole plot. Okay, nevermind, you didn't hear anything...

I know, it's vague... at the heart of it, it'll be the two of them going off to live in an area populated by Vanyar and their coping of the situation -- and perhaps a bit of stuff with Haldir thrown in, and then I need to find a way for Maglor to get to Valinor, since that was -- omg, I just answered my own question. Well then. I think I have a Lorien trio that needs to go on a little adventure.

*huggles LJ* I'm so glad we had this chat, Postie. You're the best!

PS to lalaith_raina... Eighth brother, carry the unicorn... I think I can still make that happen

They're on their way out to Toys'r'Us.

To pick up a toy for Mark and I for Christmas.

At midnight.

Anti-climactic, I know.

Dad once leaped over a display or something in order to score Glow Worms for my brother and I.

Hoping that he doesn't, y'know, take out a sales clerk or something in order to procure the item in question.

I kinda feel like I'm twelve again.

That's all... time to sleep a little before getting up early, going out before dawn, and shopping til the sun comes up! As ex-retail clerks, Mark and I LOVE being able to participate in Black Friday on our own terms. Then breakfast, a nap, and our last regional nano write-in of the year!
zhie: (nano2009)
Everyone gets three guesses what I did tonight!

And, Mark had a LOT to do with it. First, what other husband, at 1am, in the darkness when you can't sleep, asks, 'tell me why the king had Erestor whipped'

Yeah. We had a discussion fit for an elf-lover slumber party. And, he was pretty sleepy himself at the time. He indulges me.

And then, today, he made the Thanksgiving stuff for his family coming over.

The man has never made any of the following before:

-Turkey, with stuffing in it

-Stuffing, for inside the turkey

-Homemade cranberry sauce (omg, I don't think I can ever go back... and he gets double bonus points since I've never done this before)

And he also made:

-Mashed potatoes

-Rolls (not just the toss from pack to oven kind, the take out of freezer, use wax paper, let rise, etc, kind)

Which basically left me to -heat canned asparagus -toss sweet potatoes (which he got all ready to go) into microwave to steam and -make apple pie

Easiest Thanksgiving EVER. Well... this year, I ended up being the one to do the dishes instead of him... (yay for dishwasher)

And then... it started snowing. -_-

Oh, well. It wasn't gonna last forever...

Happy Thanksgiving, Everybody!

(And now, I go to catch up on what I missed over the last 25 days... which, we all know, in Internet Time is like, 3 or 4 years...)

PS -- the new Lady Gaga CD & the Adam Lambert CD showed up today around 5pm... I forced myself to only listen to Bad Romance and nothing else until I finished as a --- wait, why am I still here right now??

I'm running out of palindromes.

Sprinting to the finish, and if I didn't have to go bake a pie, I'd do it tonight! (I suppose I could get up early and do pie then and sprint my way to the finish in the wee hours.)

Sauron... he's just being a dick. Which he does so well. And Erestor's the only elf within a hundred acres of Angband, so you can just imagine who he's taking his aggression out on.

And with that, I leave you with... something that could only happen during NaNo... a 'counseling' session with the future counselor...

“But Feanor and his followers are not emissaries of your brother – in fact, they are renegades as much as you are! It makes no sense for you to have stolen the silmarilli from Feanor,” argued Erestor.

“Of course it does. Eventually, I will kill enough elves to convince my brother to come here and face me,” explained Morgoth. “Admittedly, I may have killed a few for more personal reasons, but then, a father is entitled to make such decisions from time to time.”

“I... what do you mean?” Erestor looked back at Morgoth. “Do you speak of Gothmog?” he asked, for rumors were that the lord balrog was of Morgoth’s own flesh and blood.

“Gothmog...” Morgoth let out an agonized sound. “He was so very loyal to me. Like a son, as he was a son. Yes, those who speak of it speak the truth."

Yeah... so... I blame that bit on the fact that there's a virtual cocktail party that happened one night for the ML-types, and I *may* have written that under the influence of a cocktail... or three...

you be the judge

to balance that, something a bit more thought out, from probably the second or third day of writing... 'the truth about blonds', if i were naming the chapters and had to title the one this part is in...

also, i hate sauron
zhie: (Default)
realized i don't even have time for that

will say, there are times this darkling muse of mine scares the crap out of me

just because the dark lord favors wearing the same color is not a valid reason to consider joining him

good thing fin-muse is technically dead and can't really hear ress saying these things

in other news, big write-in tomorrow night - super excited

in other other news, i have the best boss in the world... so few would actually understand an elf obsession

also, a scholarly discussion on which ceasars are the ceasars which make up Little Ceasars will indeed scare the cashier when you come to get your pizzas

and i have a dentist visit tomorrow, because i'm pretty sure he messed something up last time (nothing hurt until he 'fixed' something... which, it seems, needs to be un-fixed if this is what fixing it did)

finally, i sent the req in this week to have the last typewriter in the library hauled off... should be gone next week... 1990s, here we come!!

WROTE NOTHING today except renovation proposals, order reqs, invoices, call numbers, etc... really need tomorrow's write-in, have huge plot bunny with teeth dug into my ankle... knew he was hiding here, but he finally jumped his furry ass out and got me, and this time I'm not kicking him off... I should... but I'm not... hated this idea first time around, but it's grown on me

Tonight's writing included Morgoth getting ready to sing (not as crazy as it sounds) and also a crazysexyhotangstydream (with much thanks to punkinelf for letting me molest her plot bunny for that)

Now, I should really put up something very blah for the excerpt, because it's just going to spoil anyone reading these if I... wait, what was that? I heard someone in the back demand the crazysexyhotangstydream sequence. Well, can't argue with that.

Uhh... Jake... don't look... I don't need you scarred...

please remember, this is all unedited, and written word after word without stopping... a lot some of it will be rewritten come March

Gildor is the best thing that happened to this story. It's amazing. I owe him cheesecake.

A whole cheesecake.

And, here's another excerpt. Because, it's as close to what someone would like as can happen in this story (though... I really, really need to do a segment of Meanwhile in Rivendell) once I finish with this...

This was mostly written during word wars tonight, so I'm not sure it will stay like this, probably needs some editing.

Not a full chapter, just a part I enjoyed writing.

And, also? Gildor has been quite the plot bunny himself. For an elf that I seriously disliked to the point of near hate for years, he has come through when I needed him. Maybe he's not so bad after all....

also... after this novel gets finished, i am considering breaking it into two parts

the first would still be titled Unforgivable

the second would be titled Like a Rainbow in the Dark

Yes, I've been listening to a LOT of Dio lately...

It's all downhill from now on.

Oh, and Gildor has joined the muses...

Because, if you want your muse to talk, and he won't, just toss his nemesis in and act like it's all good 'cause now there's someone to take over.

You would not BELIEVE how cooperative Erestor's been....
