The week of newness

Yeah, well, did some 'new' stuff this week. Made an Angel Food Cake. Have an obsession with this desert, but everyone told me how difficult it was to make, so I never tried. But I did, and it was yummy, and currently, half gone.

The cake story:

For my, I think it was 8th or 9th birthday, I wanted half of an Angel Food Cake. I was told I would make myself sick eating half of it, but my Uncle Ted said he would eat the other half. Was delicious. No frosting, just the cake. Yum. I don't think either of us got sick, but I don't think I quite finished my half. Hee hee. Sort of using that bit in some way for something in Purple Bunny #19.

Then, today, we tried a place for lunch we've not gone to - Jalepeno Loco's. Very excellent mexifood. Had the Especial platter, was delicious. And - tried guacamole for the first time. Always thought it was disgusting, never thought I'd like it. 'Twas excellent. Spark would be proud of me, me thinks.

The guacamole story:

After about age twelve, I stopped trying foods I didn't know I didn't already like. I hate the taste of milk, among other things, so this was a good way to keep from eating things that 'tasted nasty'. We had someone made homemade salsa and guacamole for something in my 6th grade reading class. The salsa was very nasty, the guacamole I didn't experiment with. That pretty much kept me away from the unknown.
