This writing thing is kicking my ass

Day Four

My 'new muses apply within' sign still hangs sadly in my window.

Ress brought it over to me this afternoon when I was sitting on the bed pouting about not having anything to write for this bloody thing.

He's such a good l'il muse. Said he knew I didn't want to write this thing as a fanfic, but if I ran into a jam, he'd be more than willing to help me out. Even offered to do one of the later stories now with lots of details to get it to reach the 50 thousand mark. Apologized that Eagle and Dove was already started and that we couldn't use that.

Like I said, he's a good muse.

Then Thranduil shouted from the living room we could use the King's Kastle. And also that he needed more cheesey puffs.

Have I mentioned what a good muse Ress is? (Okay, so the King means well, too.)

So unless something really inspires me elsewhere, I think I'm now in 'fallback' mode. However, chances are, I'll probably actually get it done if I write a fanfic novel thing. Perhaps for next year I can work on plots and characters ahead of time. But for now... I plan to work on something this month titled at the moment as 'Consequences'. Fourth Age Valinor, happening right before 'Last Little Elfling of the First Homely House'.

Mei, Laura, Bird, and Kath -- this is going to 'reveal' that big secret thing I've kept hidden away.

I have come to the conclusion that sometimes, when I'm not looking, that my muses must without a doubt be crossing paths with the muses of the very talented erestor.

Perhaps mine are in need of aromatherapy and they happen to go traipsing from the last homely house over to the first homely house. I can imagine it- believe me I can. Ress sniffing various vials of whatever, Fin leaned across the counter conversing with his eoas counterpart.

Let's listen in...

Fin: So, what's hot this month, Mauburz?

Not-so-scary-orc: You not hear from me, but pumpkins big thing.

Ress: Pumpkins? Should be interesting to see what Zhie can do with that. You want to inspire her on that, Fin, or do you want me to?

Fin: Nah, let's get Orophin to do it.

Ress: Excellent. *holds up vial* Does this stuff come in peach scented?



Seriously, though. I used to read Elf on a Shelf for the articles (*snickers* no, no, really... okay, that and the 'kiss 'insert elf name here' thing... damn, that was a hoot..) Then I kinda browsed the stories, which were quite enjoyable, 'cause I'm not so much for stories beyond PG13, only because if I want smut I can write it myself (that's not to say there isn't some good hot smut out there, too). Anyhow, as I get into reading things, it's like... whoa, that's kinda funny, my Haldir sleeps with a (stuffed) rabbit, and the eoas Haldir sleeps with a Rabbit... heh heh... and there was the pumpkin thing (the pumpkin king whatever it was was posted on eoas same day as the pumpkin ppb... no shit. is that weird or what?) So after a while, I thought, okay, I could make a list of 'top ten coincidental things at the first homely house and the last homely house', but instead, i just stopped reading stuff over there. Just, too many 'whoa, that was weird' and 'whoa, that was really weird' moments.

So a couple people told me that the lionheart story was awesome, i'd love it, go read it, etc. I certainly was missing reading things over there, so away I went to pounce upon it.
