Five Weird Habits of Your/My Self
Ground rules: The first player of this 'game starts with the topic 'Five Weird Habits of Yourself' and the people who get tagged need to then write an LJ entry about their five quirky little habits as well as state the rules of this game clearly. In the end, you need to list the next five people whom you want to tag.
1. Let's start with an LJ one. I periodically check to see who has friended me, and, if you have, I friend you. It's polite, and if you get to read my silliness, I get to read yours. I have to list it as weird, because I know from looking at many LJ user pages, this isn't always the case.
Hmmm... I've been sitting here staring at the screen... I'm trying to think of some, really...
2. I don't know if this counts as quirky or not, but every time that Mark and I part (as in, one of us leaves for work, or goes to the bedroom for a nap, or even goes down to get the mail, go to separate stores at the mall, end a phone conversation, etc) we always 1. kiss (or, if on the phone, make kissy noises) 2. say 'I love you'. It really weirds a LOT of people out, I've noticed. Thing is, it's a mutual thing, it's not like one or the other of us demanded it be done, it's just something we fell into practice of doing - but it's not because it's habit, it's 'cause we really mean it. He's such a sweetie. *blissful sigh* k, done being girly now...
3. I will put barbeque sauce on practically anything. French fries, cheeseburgers, carrot sticks, apples, the list is endless. (Maybe not cheesecake) But... it has to be either McDonald's BBQ sauce or Hunts Hickory and Brown Sugar. Mmmmmm... bbq sauce. On a related note, I will only use Heinz Ketchup, and will only use Hellmann's mayo. Yes, I CAN tell the difference between the taste of various condiments. (Mustard, that's about the only one where I pretty much like them all, but then, mustard is just good. Mmmm.... mustard.) Honey counts as well; the only honey I like is the stuff from Swan's pumpkin farm. I have a big bottle of it in the closet for eating with biscuits. Mmmmm...honey.
4. Oh! I just thought of the quirkiest one! Okay... at the Milwaukee Public Museum, there is a display of rocks next to the big Triceratops. Up on the wall, on a little tv screen, there is a fourteenish minute video on Plate Techtonics. Every time I am at the museum, no matter WHAT, I MUST SEE THE VIDEO ON PLATE TECHTONICS. I know much of it by heart. I don't know what draws me to it, but something always tells me 'go... go see the video...' so I do. In fact, my husband is so used to this, he takes me right to it first thing 'cause he knows otherwise I'll just be whimpering and wanting to go and see it. If I could get a copy of it, I would watch it muchly. I love it. I can't explain it, I just do. If ever you have the chance to go to the MPM, go, see it, tell me why I'm obsessed if you can figure it out. I NEED THAT VIDEO. (It's been there since I was a little kid, too, and I always have to see it no matter what.) Maybe the shifting of the continents just turns me on? Who knows. It's a mystery.
5. I don't like to be alone, especially in a public place, though, I don't like to be in big groups either, because then it feels like I'm alone, but just with people. I can be very clingy with whomever I'm with, be it Mark or one of my sibs or parents or whomever. I will be right next to them or on their heals, I don't even like going down another aisle from them. If they need to go to the bathroom, I'll prolly be waiting right outside the door. This may go back to the fact that when I was a kid, my dad or mom always made us hold their hand in the store. I recall being twelve and still going for my dad's arm and holding on to it. Heck, I remember being sixteen and doing that, actually. Also, us kids, my sibs and I, we were not frequently out of my parent's sight, so to speak. They always knew where we were (yeah, Maggie, I know, you were the sneaky exception ;) and when we were really young, we were pretty much confined to the house- this wasn't mean, really, we had great toys, a huge backyard, a pool, a swingset, and a huge house - but there's a six foot tall fence around the house and locks on all the gates. See, my dad's grandmother was murdered, in her own home, when he was a kid, and he is very, very protective of his family. Yup. So, 'cause of those things, I can end up panicking when I don't know where people are or, in my case, when no one knows where I am.
Now I'm thinking of more, but we've run out of time. Monty and Maggie, consider yourselves tagged. The rest of you, no homework for tonight. Class dismissed!
(as an afterthought, I heard Pretty Vegas by the new INXS the other day on the radio... I didn't like the song on TV during the competition, but I really like it on the radio.)
