And here, I thought I was going forward
Apr. 27th, 2006 08:22 amA few of you know a little bit about this, and I hate to jinx myself talking about it, however, things are heavily in motion and it should come to pass..
Last night I had to transport something from one campus to another (okay, I didn't HAVE to, but a different campus messed things up, and I was playing nice librarian so that the student didn't have to drive the 38 miles to come pick it up)
Also, I was curious to go looking around to see what things would need to be changed when I got to that library.
Firstly, it is twice as big as my library.
I suppose here would be a good place to mention, I am going to be transferring to a different place. Same potition, still head librarian/director, extreme difference in the campus and programs. Instead of giving lectures to future nurses, environmental scientists and landscape designers, I will be teaching future auto mechanics, police officers, chefs, firefighters and.. nurses. Okay, well, nursing shortage, we teach that at all the campuses. Oh! And funeral directors... yep, future funeral directors. *nods* So, going from the sciences campus to the social sciences campus, basically.
So.. I went in to check it out. Bigger library, tons more books, bigger budget, moreminions staff, lots more seating, twice the space in the circ/reference area... but no office. *pouts* so, first order of business will be constructing a makeshift office, and I already know where I want it, so all is good there, but I am losing my windows.
I currently have windows on two sides of my office; they face into the library. But through both windows, you can look beyond and see the windows that face the pond, the barn, the stables, and all the trees. My Rivendell, as I have been calling it. So, I am going to either find some great screencaps from the LOTR movies, enlarge them, frame them, and put them on the walls for 'windows' in my 'office', heh, or else I am going to see if Mark can paint something for me. That would be too cool if he could.
Now, why going backwards?
When I left the campus last night, I called Mark on the phone to find out what I should pick up for dinner. As I was walking, I'm hearing something that sounds like a waterfall - but, that's impossible, I think. I keep walking. It's pretty dark out, but there is a little light left. And then, it comes into view - the pond that I never noticed, and the courtyard.
This is behind the campus, and the campus itself is on a hill, with everything down from there. Never looked behind the campus.
The pond, which is bigger than I expected, is situation at the center of the courtyard.
There is a fountain in the center of the pond.
I am moving to Gondolin, or, the Zhie goes South.
