From an article on the Milwaukee Journal's site, regarding the new logo for our ice hockey team:

In conjunction with its new slogan "Never say die," which has been teasing local billboard readers for the past month, the Admirals introduced the new logo: the admiral of a ghost ship. A pirate explained to the crowd that the admiral had been at the bottom of Lake Michigan for the past 20 years and that this was what was left of him.

The new logo is quite a bit edgier than the last logo of the salty seaman admiral. The new admiral, designed by Joe Locher of Yes Men of Milwaukee, is a skull with a black admiral's cap with ice blue trim.

The team's new colors will be black, ice blue and silver, replacing the old red, white and blue. "We wanted to do something that would be really popular with the younger crowd," Locher said. "We wanted to avoid the idea of a trendy logo, yet we wanted to tie it in to the heritage of the team to have it make more sense."

i'll miss the salty old sea captain we had...

As I am scared shitless to try to sew the dress right away, having never done sleeves before except on the jedi robes which were really, really loose sleeves, I am trying a transitional project first. Tonight I cut out all the pieces to the pattern I am doing for a tunic shirt type thing, and sewed a little. Tomorrow I shall power sew and see what comes of it. I would have continued, but I need to pick up interfacing from the craft shop.

I have a sneaking suspicion I may have cut something wrong, but, I'll deal when I get to that point.

The material I went with is purple with cream colored swirls on it and red that looks like someone sponged the red onto white, and it bled a lot. Once I start getting somewhere on it, I'll take a picture. The fabric was originally going to turn into a quilt, however, if I screw up the shirt, it may still.

I figure, a month out, if I screw this up badly, it means I still have time to grovel to the seamstress I know...

Hey! Come to think of it, the colors actually perfectly match the scissors caddy thing I have hanging off the side of my bookshelf! ^_^ I wuv the scissors caddy... *glomps Slayer* see? I forsaw the use of it, and though since Christmas so many gifts have gone unused and unpacked and such, the scissors caddy on a weekly basis nudges me when I need a pair... and thinking further, I use my Erestor mug that Dark gave me often (though now with summer, more for making oatmeal in than hot cocoa), and the calendar from DA gets used most every day ^_^ (Mei, your gift was gone in about a month... eh, prolly less, hee hee)

Boy, did I go wandering off there... heh. This is how I get when I'm writing deprived, I suppose...

oh! I got a new rug for the office. due to the fact that kitties were destroying my burgandy shag carpet, I got a very short fuzzy instead of fluffy rug that is purple, pink, and orange. and red. a plot bunny rug, no doubt. Kitties are happy with nuzzling it and taking a running start, leaping, and making it skid across the floor. well, at least they aren't destroying it, though Oreo managed to skid herself head first into the water bowl *snickers*
