How bizarre & Glorfindel action figure
Aug. 7th, 2007 04:05 amGot one final interest today about the fan film fest, told them, go ahead, send it over, should get here in time
Just checked mail, got response. 'You live there?! We live ___!'
They're the next tiny tot town over. Y'know, cute lil suburbs you can drive across in five minutes? Yeah.
So, either they're dropping it off tomorrow or I'm picking it up.. just.. too funny.. too weird.. too..
Whoa, hope it's not someone I know who then puts the 'Zhie' together with the.. hmm, I did run for office a couple years back and being with how many people call me 'the' librarian around these parts..
Eh, I'll worry about that later.
I was productive today!!
I put together shelving at work. SIX units. SIX. Big units. No electric drill. Everything by hand. But, they do look pretty and I was able to say 'I was screwing stuff all day long'
Considering I've gone through a nasty bit of writer's block (grarrr! very rare does that vile disease affect me!) Mir's birthday got me writing again, so all happy-happy there. And so, I worked on my paper on elven genealogy which will be molded into an elven genealogy powerpoint which will be my dragoncon presentation ala grande or something.
Originally, the idea was I would just get up there and talk for an hour, but I've decided, it's probably not a good thing for me to do without parameters. And, it seems more 'scholarly' if I have a paper with something more than 'list of Luthien's potential stalkers' written on it.
...and yes, I did start with a page titled 'Luthien's Stalkers'. Daeron has refused to speak to me since.
So, let's see, worked my way through the intro, the awakening, the Vanyar, and the Lindar. So, tomorrow, I tackle the Noldor, and then the Peredhel and then I'm done, woohoo! ^_^ And it'll be nice and ready to go.
Finished taking all the pics for the action figure panel. Then, got great idea to start on Glorfindel II action figure, even though, I really don't have the time to do such a thing. But, did anyhow.
Made stop at Joann's for stuff for action figure. It was worth it; he, unlike the other action figures, will have an actual crown thing. I keep calling them tiaras, but that's 'cause I'm tired and it was more fun to ask Mark 'How does Glorfindel's tiara look?'
Erestor is jealous. Fin-figure's hair is longer and more naturally curly than Ress-figure's is. I spent two and a half hours working on carving Fin-figure's sword, and it's still not done. You would think small things would take less time than big things, but no. All I really have left is the sword and to paint him now, and the finishing stuff. He really went much faster than I thought. And, I like him quite a lot better from the original.
I ended up not using a Legolas for the base. Part of me was 'I.. really.. shouldn't do this..' and the other part was 'Why didn't I do this sooner?', but the base is one of those characters that I have a feeling it could be seen as a sacriledge (sacrilage? guh, I am sleepy, I don't even think the context is quite right, oh well, Bookmaven or someone will know what I meant and nudge me about it, maybe)
It's one of those things other people might think you just aren't supposed to do. There, yeah, that.
I mean, it's one thing to hack up a Galadriel, right? Those are all over the place. Same with the Legolasesses.. Legoli? Yeah. All over. Frodo? Strider? Do what you will. Gollum? Jeez, I bought some of those at Kay-B for 1 cent each a couple years ago.
Then, there's the 'well, if you must...' characters. Elrond. Hate to modify one, but, how else do you get Elladan and Elrohir? Celeborn. I sacrificed my extra to make Erestor, so it seemed justified. But...
*hides behind balrog, far away from the other Haldir fans*
I mean.. it's not like you can just reborn an elf out of thin air, right?
