Yesterday was the day to have people over here; today, we're heading over to my parents... a whopping five minute drive, though I'm picking up MJ on my way, so that'll add a slight bit of time. Either way, I'll miss the 11am deadline... I'm hardly on time... I'm so very lucky to have a job where my start time is variable... but I digress.
Actually made a turkey yesterday. Didn't put it in the wrong way like the last time (which was 12 years ago... took me this long to attempt turkey again). Normally, I make duck for Thanksgiving, but there was a request for turkey. Of course, even having that information, some people still just didn't pay a lot of attention with some of my comments, such as 'well, I always put the stuffing inside of the turkey' and 'i known a lot of people stuff a stick of butter up the turkey's ass, but I prefer to shove an apple down it's throat instead to keep it moist inside.'
Luckily, my 'stuffing up the ass, apple down the throat' method worked out well the first time around. ^_^ Stuffing made with fresh blueberries and cranberries... I can never do anything out-of-the-box easy, can I? No, not really... pretty much everything was fresh, except for the canned gravy since I'm not so keen on gravy myself, but knew others would want it, so it was there. But I think most stuff tastes better fresh, and somehow I just think my ancestors would frown upon me using potato flakes instead of real potatoes.
And it snowed last night. Yay snow? Well, it's just a dusting, and Mark was hoping for it. Had to come sooner or later.
Am I procrastinating on nano? You betcha. Who wants to read more of my Thanksgiving adventures?
Ressmuse: *nudging gently* You have less than 10k to go. I'd really like to not be stuck in Gondolin the rest of my life.
Finmuse: And I think the caserole you're taking to your parents' house is burning.
TheKing: For the record, I will be staying here. And we are out of cheezypuffs.
