Today was...
Sep. 3rd, 2009 12:09 aminteresting, tiring, and lots of stuff all rolled into one, but mostly, good, I think.
Had to lecture early, after changing my syllabus at 6am. Then teaching for three hours, and having another instructor come in halfway through claiming we were in her room. Oopsie, she was actually in the wrong place, found that out later when I chatted with the department head.
Then, office hours, and at the end of those... a Jimmy Johns guy shows up. Apparently, all of our ordering through the year, we're good customers... so for the start of the semester, they made up a huge box of mini subs (like 50) for the library staff.
Of... four. Well, MJ did come in later, but I forgot to tell her because at that point I was organizing things and forgot but there's probably still some tomorrow as there were, y'know, FIFTY or so. I love that Jimmy Johns loves us. So, instead of blah salad and yellow jello of unknown flavor, it was fresh mini subbies.
And, I got into my new office today! And... it's bigger than I thought it was. And, the desk is nice. And... shoot, I just remembered something I forgot to do last week. Doh. Well, anyhow...
So, then there was a big confusion about rooms and who should go where because of some double booking. Me to the rescue, as no one could find a dean or anything. All was well, I got kudos from the VP for stepping in, and people are parking on the lawn. Actually that part doesn't affect me personally, it's just that one of our lots is being paved, so in lieu of a lot people are parking on the lawns. It's quite amusing, from what I hear. I didn't leave until 10pm (after getting there at 8am), so I never saw it.
Watching The Abyss... only saw it once, but the movie was very vivid so it stayed with me and I admit to being inspired to put something into a fanfic based on something from that movie. Fifty house points for the person who can figure out what that was.
Sleepy time now... I have FOUR lectures tomorrow. A failing economy makes for busy educators.
