Year in Review – 2009 – beginning of the first entry of each month

Ack! You know, I'm only conscious of this on January 1st, and even then, I'm not always aware of it... okay, so, first line or so of the first entry of each month (fic headers don't count). Let's see what we've got, folks...

January: An impromptu, unconventional elf chat And, it's not on yahoo

February: “Lovely stench you have discovered,” joked Mirdirin as they began to head through the fields. On either side of them, cattle gazed. The sounds of their bells as they moved created a cacophony of melodies. A few happy herding dogs watched them as they passed, their tongues hanging about out of their mouths as they kept one eye on their charges and another on the newcomers. ((<-- from book four of unforgettable))

March: This is being posted here, in my live journal, and not in some group somewhere for a couple of reasons. First, it applies to more than one group. Secondly, it may apply to groups I am not aware of. ((<-- that was the beginning of my list mom rant.. I must have been pissed that day...))

April: “What are you doing in here?”
Saeros turned abruptly around, slipping the dagger he had been inspecting into his sleeve. His hands were joined together, the folds of fabric concealing the weapon and his sweaty palms. “Inventory,” answered the councilor in a calm voice, though he had to speak slow and softly in order to be understood. ((<--OMG! I love writing Saeros and Mablung! I wonder why I don't write more of them))

May: “Before you say a word,” warned Erestor, “I did not abandon her or pale at the sight of blood or any such thing. I was banished, by her orders, as was practically everyone else.” ((<-- another bit of Unforgettable; I need to finish that))

June: Tonight, I finally retire this icon, I guess. Does the fact that this is the end of a story, despite my having finished it in November of last year, allow me to start another one? *shifty look* ((<-- this was regarding Citius Altius Fortius, which, I think is only posted in its entirety on my LJ, must change that now that I've rediscovered the flash drive it is on... and since the beginning of this chapter was one of my favorites, I'm indulging here and posting the whole first conversation between Turgon and Elenwe.. under a cut, of course))

July: 1. I have the best boss in the world. Well, I have two bosses, actually, but, how to put it... hmm... if I was Erestor, which I'm not because that's just silliness, but if I did happen to be a fanfictional chief counselor/librarian/everything else who had more than one boss, one would be Elrond and the other would be Gil-Galad, if we were in the Second Age, which we're not, but let's pretend. And the one who is Gil-Galad, would be awesome. Elrond would just be a neat freak. Okay, he's not bad. He's okay, most of the time. But, a neat freak. Who... randomly calls and asks 'Who's the troll in the Hobbit?' and I have to say 'It wasn't a troll, it was another hobbit, and his name was Gollum.', but I digress.

August: The stove that came with the house appears to be broken. It seems that someone screwed something up with the circuit board or something -- it thinks the door is locked for cleaning, which it isn't, and because it's a digital dial, it's not having it when it comes to turning on the oven. Going to try some things that were suggested on some sites, but some of them we attempted yesterday and it didn't cure it. The solution of replacing that part would cost more than half of a new one, so guess what we're probably going to do today? I just wish we'd have known before we had the rest of the appliances shipped over.

September: interesting, tiring, and lots of stuff all rolled into one, but mostly, good, I think. Had to lecture early, after changing my syllabus at 6am. Then teaching for three hours, and having another instructor come in halfway through claiming we were in her room. Oopsie, she was actually in the wrong place, found that out later when I chatted with the department head.

October: I think this is the fastest way to inform people, and I didn't want to spam the lists I'm on(though I might to LB). Yesterday, I was in a pretty bad car accident. I haven't heard word from the insurance company yet, however, the opinion of every witness/bystander/person who saw the car was, if anyone had been in my passenger seat, this would be a lot more tragic of a post being written right now. From inside of the car, what I viewed was that all of the glass was broken, the airbags both deployed, something was mashed in that I had to yank my bag out from under it (from accounts, that would have been the passenger door). ((<-- this was the post titled GLRFNDL is dead, which, was really hard for me to see again))

November: Halloween Party = Awesomeness
big hugs to Mark and Jake for all the help in the setting up of it
With a house this year, we were able to do two things we couldn't before:
-decorate a yard
-invite more people!
((omg, I so need an excuse to use the chocolate fountain again, that part was awesome))

December: january swap fic
unforgettable
unforgivable
rainbow in the dark
second age bunny *locks bunny back in hutch* ((<-- my December to do list; let's see how many actually get done... feel free to place bets...))

And there it is, 2009.

Basically reminding me that 'Unforgettable' is over 5 years old now, and I would do well to finish it before it becomes another 'Friendly Wagers'
