No more naming of pets for me...
I've never been good at determining genders of... practically anything. Unless it obviously has a beard or breasts, it's kind of difficult for me to figure out. Seriously.
My parents let this cat in many years ago, they still have it. I kept calling it 'her'. 'She' is really a he it turned out, and is now Mr. Kitty. Thankfully, no pets were named due to my inability to determine gender.
Second, the pair of kittens my mother in law found. Named them Elrond and Elros. Turned out later, that Elrond was really a girl.
Doh.
The fish named Oscar... turned out to be a girl.
Whoops.
And now, my latest mistake, with the angelfish.
Erestor is pregnant, and Arwen is a... proud father?
You may all go back to your normal, non-gender-confused days...

Don't worry, you're not the only one with this problem.
That's why I stick with non gender names for my pets, no trouble anymore *snicker*
