When someone goes and deletes something like a yahoo group or an lj community or something like that without warning. And you just go look, and it's gone. Especially when others have contributed to it. It's like, that's a lot, jackass. Some of us might have wanted to go back there at some point.

I totally understand when it's someone's personal LJ. I also understand when it's a website or something that someone is paying for. That's different.. it's owned by that person, in some way or another. But for stuff that is community based that isn't costing anything, just stick up a note saying 'closed, archive only' and then walk away. It's basically what happened at the old Haldir Lovers group. I know that they mentioned they were going to delete it, but they haven't and I really hope it stays that way. It's harming nothing to leave it up.

Or transfer the bloody thing to someone else. Let someone else take it over. Between deleting and finding another person to lead the group members, I go with option number two.

I have to say, much as I love Little Balrog for being my own little creation, there's something special about having adopted lotrallslash and Erestor Lovers. Kinda like rescuing that puppy that might have been put down or that kitty that was just going to be let out into the wild. That sort of thing. For that, I totally have high respect for those previous owners of those groups, for not just ditching the group and for passing it along to someone else.

So if any of the rest of you are planning to dump a group or something, please let me know. I'll find a good home for it, one way or another. I'd hate for anyone else to have to go through the frustration I have many a time when group addresses come up. Some people just don't realize all of the information that is being lost with the use of that delete function...

It IS annoying! Many moons ago I was a member of a Harry/Draco site. The owner went AWOL and left no one in charge. No one had ADMIN capabilities, so the hyenas moved in. ACK!

I recently had to leave my beloved Hex Files due to homelife discord over my Internet time. There are six others who remain and maintain the status quo. Whew! Hex Files is alive and well, and HUGE!

I'm sorry you're upset about this and if you want to smack me around for doing something that no one has asked on for the last year and a half, go ahead.

That is indeed frustrating. *huggles* I can understand if it's a new community and not many people have contributed to it, but if there's a lot of stuff on there... 'tis disappointing.

I didn't know you adopted those groups. That explains a little more to me now why you manage so much stuff in the fandom. You are awesome. ♥♥
