drivin' that train, high on cocaine...

Let's see if I can summarize this quickly so I can either crash or at least go curl up somewhere...
Bristol - Being thought to be a servant by some noble - being shouted to by the 'erestor' of the renfaire when I got out the map "woman, what are you doing with that? pretending to read? give it to the man!" (i don't recall who it was (identity of the actor) but he sits in a tent watching the dancing (which is what we were doing, was watching the courtly dancing) and he has a desk and quills and wears all black and drinks from a wine glass and never, ever smiles, and is fabulous - eating shrimp tempura - huzzahing - the jester being cheeky - the mud fight (we sat on the Spartan side instead of the Trojan side, about ten feet away from the guy who got kissed by the guy covered in mud) - seeing the group Tartanic, who were awesome and greatly funny and who doesn't like men in kilts and now have a Finrod plot bunny involving Gimli because of it - petting goats, pig, turtle, cow, donkey, llamas, and ZEBRA! - seeing joust in the afternoon on Sir Tristan's side (who was wounded in the joust, leading to the joust to the death) and getting good pictures - coming back and getting great seats on Sir Thomas' side and videoing Tristan (who wears gold and purple, and is young with long blond hair, so you can see why I'd do such a thing) and it was brilliant because he won and I think I shall create a 'videofanfic' or something of the sort later on - going to the drum circle, but just watching as I was tired by then - hitting the queen's confectionary and the bakery before leaving - buying awesome shirt of gandalfish wizard with dragon peering into window - watching the queen's farewell, and before I left snapping a few pics of the queen up closer than I've ever been to her for Zu because I know she'd love to see the queen's costume (God save the queen! sorry, had to add that, been shouting it all day with everyone...) - ending it with coming outside of the faire, and looking up atop the castle wall to where one of the young lords was singing a love song to a lass sitting up there with him (should have taken a picture - by then the DVD was full or I'd have recorded it) - I got much jousting from the 'joust of the death' though. If I wasn't so tired, I'd be working on that already!
Whew!
Then, we hit White Castle for dinner. Now, you have to understand, the White Castle on the way home from Bristol is the ONLY WC in all of Wisconsin. So we had to go. There's a bag of burgers in the oven for later on.
Am now with shoes off, and aloe all over shoulders and chest. Won't know until tomorrow how burned I am. Oh! Had big turkey leg and strawberry daiquiri right before joust to death. And after joust, we went up and chatted with Sir Thomas (who was killed in the match, however, through the magic of renfaire...lives!) and he told us about the horses and so on and it was lovely.. We did note that Sir Ulrich was replaced for the green and silver side. I know Thomas is the same. I also think that the black side was a replacement, because previously I was sure it was Sir Guy of Gisbourne, and now it was something else. But Sir Thomas is the same as the past few years. I have to check on Tristan. I think it might be the same one, but not sure. Tristan's squire and the one on the silver and green side, definitely different, though. The one on silver and green last year was much taller and mouthier and you could tell had been about it for a while. This year, small lad. For Tristan, this year, it was a girl, first time I've seen a female squire, which was really cool.
Okay, I think I might go snuggle into bed. Man, I'm so tired!
Oh, the entry title... we sang Greatful Dead songs on the way home. It was delightful.
I should specify, 'we' is the most wonderful and awesome Bonnie, who called me up on Monday to ask if Mark and I were free to go. So it was spur of the moment planning. She was taking her God-son and his friend, and wanted to know if we would want to come along. When we got there, it turned out she had bought tickets back in January or something, so that was very cool and very nice and unexpected.
And now, as I am stuffed full of nummy 16th century food and nursing my sunburn, I bid you all a farethee well!
