life is good
on the porch, writing fic, nice breeze, sun setting, grass cut smell all around
it just doesn't get much better than this
oh, and a duck duck goose update...
this year, between Sam, Rosie, Pippin, Diamond, and whatever the new goose couple is, there are thirteen goslings... all of them survived through the storms, which caused the ponds to flow well over their usual areas, and even take out one of the streets of the campus for a while
unfortunately, i have not seen the three ducklings in almost a week... and as i did spot for the first time one of the giant turtles that lurks in the pond, i am not hopeful... as it was, mama duck disappeared about two weeks ago, and daddy duck had been sitting on the shore not really paying much attention to things
poor duckies :(
i'll have to get more goose pics, though... this year, now that Sam and Rosie are comfortable with me (Rosie actually comes right up to me without hissing now), I got to get really close to the babies (about a foot away) last year they tended to keep me about ten feet off... they still all make a run for it if anyone else comes or if someone else is with me... people keep tossing them bread, though, which is not so good for baby geese, so when i found out that cracked corn is way better i started bringing it last year (which was the first year any of the goslings made it to adulthood)
haven't seen any frogs yet... must get some pics of those, too, if i can
and... back to writing
