Library Pictures

Dark requested some pictures of my week in 'library hell'... maybe more like 'library limbo'... yeah.

The short story... the ceiling had to be taken down so that a sprinkler system could go up. And as long as that was down, they decided that they would put in new energy efficient lights. And since they were doing that, there was no need to keep the big, ugly 'chandeliers' we have, so those are coming down, too.

Oh, and as long as that's going on, let's paint. Oh, and by the way, now that we've painted, the doors need to stay open for at least 48 hours, preferably all weekend, so the paint can dry and the doors don't stick shut. And the campus is open 6:30 am to 11pm and... I don't need to sleep, right?

So I am at work GUARDING THE BOOKS. There's a fanfic in there somewhere. So there's a joint effort between Fin and Ress going on... anyhow. Here's some pics of what's going on, if you'd care to see... this is only phase one (ceiling down; doors painted) and some 'before' pics. Oh, and one of me.

Reference Ceiling - Before This is the ceiling over the reference desk prior to the taking apart of the ceiling.

Reference Area - After This is after the ceiling tiles were removed. We had to take all of the art down for them to work on the room, so it looks extremely bare in here.

Research Area - Before The research stations, before the ceiling came down.

Research Area - After This is the research area of the library, after the ceiling tiles have been removed. The ciculation collection is far in the back...

Entrance of Library I don't have before pics at the moment - will try to find some - the doors were teal on one side and peach on the other. (!) Now they are blue on both sides (not just one of the school colors, but also the color given for our particular campus - each library has their own color) with silver/grey trim that matches the security gates. Oh, and if you think teal and peach are bad? The doors USED to be orange...

Nice piccy, even though everyone else has already said it, now I feel oodles bad. All me friends are perttier than me. But you do look nice in the picture.

As for your hideaway..errr..library, I cringed when I saw it. All that is work hazzard and they expect you to work in that enviroment? You needa stay safe and away from those wires.

Huggle bears and stay safe. If the celing starts to fall, throw an elf or two in the way to protect you.
