I found his people's generosity quite touching at the end and Glorfindel's humbleness more how I envision his character. Anyone who would fight as valiantly as he, I imagine, would be. Now, if we can just keep him from being so friggin' naive... because I have a feeling, that what's-his-face is gonna screw with his noggin' big time.
