Duilin... he does die in the fall of Gondolin (that's canon, can't change it), but no, there's foreshadowing but to something else further down the road on that.
And the friendship between Ecthelion and Laiqalasse, that whole thing comes up again later in 'I Came to the West for This?!', and I've been remiss in getting in here (since I have obviously limited time to get it mentioned!
