I've been able to access stuff off my computer even I can't get it turned on. As long as your HD itself isn't a problem. You just need something like this -
http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-2.0-2.5-HDD-SATA-HARD-DRIVE-EXTERNAL-CASE-ENCLOSURE_W0QQitemZ270382212292QQcmdZViewItem
and then you can hook it up to any old computer you want to. It'll act like an external HD, you know like the one you never hooked up. ;-)
