zhieI have too many ideas for nano, i think that's what the trouble is. Not writing has meant all the plot bunnies have had a chance to get fat and happy.
I had this great idea for a second age fic. Unfortunately moving means your books are all in boxes until you end up at a pre-writing function and google Rivendell and suddenly remember that it was founded a thousand years after you recall it being around. Which throws off your original idea and pisses off your new OFC, who didn't want to talk to you until it was likely she wasn't going to be in a story and now she's threatening to sic her pair of great danes on you.
Have I mentioned I have a lawyer for the car accident ticket thing? Well, I do. Lawyer shopping, not fun, but easier than expected. Hopefully it will remain so until it's all cleared up.
Okay, so... second age... I was going to mash it together with a first age fic I had an idea for that I didn't think could make it to 50k on its own... very dark post-Gondolin, that I have considered doing for a number of years now. Just don't feel like those... muses are only half-heartedly helping and there's plot holes now with the Rivendell thing.
Then there's a first age fic, it's one that would follow another one i did - the name of which i can't recall, but erestor was writing stuff that glorfindel then was dreaming about, it was after another one that i can't recall the title of (okay, seriously, beyond anything with 'plot bunny' in the title somewhere, Blind, and Unforgettable, I have issues remembering my titles...I screw up 'and morgoth trembled' and 'morgoth's match' all the time... and i sat in the car the other day trying to remember what 'erotic erestor' was really called... it was 'exotic' not 'erotic' but it took like five minutes for me to get to that point...so... yes... i have title issues... i think i can name more tolkien canon elves than i can titles of stories i've written... damn, my short attention span wishes to play this game with myself now...)
Alright, then I have a horror story idea. Based on a freaky dream. I'd call it a nightmare, but... it was 'attack of the killer tomatoes' scary, if that makes sense. And although it's a great idea, I don't have the willpower like i did year two to do what i did then.
what did i do year two... had an awesome dream, a short but awesome dream, that i built my whole nano around... that required studying all sorts of stuff about horses, the Hawaiian language and culture, and geology, in a four-day period --- because i was going to do fanfic, but didn't. And it was AWESOME, and I want to finish that, and I even considered a sequel of it following the younger sister of one of the characters, but... none of that i think i could keep my attention on.

Alright, so, I had this idea a long while ago, and I set it aside. Then, I had this other idea, but I shoved that one aside. But tonight I revisited the ideas while in the shower. Idea One: Erestor sails back to Middle-earth to bring back Maglor. Idea Two: Ingwe & son, tired of ruling the Vanyar, want a break for a while, and Glorfindel, being the next-in-line male, gets called upon to take over for a while. Now, the bad thing about meshing these together is not having Glorfindel sail along and not having Erestor reactions to the Vanyarin culture... but, it might work better this way? The big negative... the #2 idea is where I was thinking of having Glorfindel finally want to try to find the son he lost in Gondolin, but if I do that, I won't want to post the nano until I finish Unforgettable (well, there's one person who would be allowed to read it, and she knows who she is, because she knows stuff the rest of y'all don't know, but if you're going 'huh?' right now, you're not her, so, nevermind). I guess it would get my ass in gear to finish Unforgettable... which turned five years old yesterday.
Five years. That thing is older than any of my nanos. Oy.
Wish I could just work on that this November, but that would not be in good form for a ML to do. *solemnly shakes head* No being a nano rebel while being in charge.
I have debated this during the evening with Mark while we played organize the closet and figure out what's going downstairs. We talked through the 4th age/5th age/6th age stuff and tried to decide an appropriate time for Maglor to be in when Erestor comes to yank him home, so I'm going to have to do some amount of research of some sort. Probably looking at something around the Age of Enlightenment, i think.. has to be a historical period I'm familiar with (and not American Revolutionary history, though, I'd ROCK at that, no... no Elves in America...)
Need to figure a good, solid historical event going on.
Might possibly find a way to get Erasmus in there... I do love words starting with E-R... Erasmus... Erestor... Erasure... Erudite... and... other such words...
Hmmm... the muse (the chief muse, blondie) is insisting that he needs a new pair of spectacles for this fic, and a new cheesecake creation. Also, he wants to see LaToya Jackson on dancing with the stars. Don't ask me why -- I'm still trying to figure this guy out.
The other one, he's gathering all the rope and fishing poles he can find in the house and is searching for great dane sized life vests. And i'm sure madame OFC has stuff she wants to say, but every time i turn around, she's acting as if she's completely disinterested in everything.why did i buy that lady gaga cd again?

It has good 50k potential, and if I can't get it done in November at least I'll never have to look at it again - I'll delete it and all its research off my hard drive and out of my life forever.
