At work, over a weekend nearly a year ago... I think it was spring break last year.

We had two that were on the counter by some ready reference stuff, and came back on a Monday and found them gone and water level halfway down (like someone poured them right out of their containers). Could have been someone who waited for the weekend librarian to go on break, could have been someone with keys to the room... never found out.

Panama was an 'ordinary' looking red female, but Cassander is the one I guess I can see someone stealing. He was practically rainbow colored, and I've never seen another one like him. At that time, it wouldn't have been hard to steal them -- we had the plastic containers and the net on a shelf nearby. Now we hide all that stuff.

(The pet store nearest us sold their bettas for $23 - $28 each, so if that's what the person who took them thought they usually went for...)
