There are a few stores open around here, which surprises me because unlike the tri-state area where I used to live, here in WV it's like 99% Christians. In the NY/NJ area there are many more people of other faiths so I wasn't surprised that stuff was open on Christian holidays.
Good luck with all of your berry plants. If you have deer you may need to protect them with some netting. Birds will go for blueberries too.
Your comments about the trees caught me by surprise and reminded me that I keep forgetting that a good part of the country isn't in a naturally wooded area. Around here, if you don't tend the land, it fills up with brambles and trees before very long. I do love big trees, though! I'm glad you were able to get a place that has some.
