There they are, Oreo and Harley. Or Mistress Erestor and Fincat... I didn't give them their original names, we actually don't know who did. But they had been together since Oreo was born, and the previous, previous owner was just going to let them run loose because she was moving and couldn't bring them along. The person who took them was over her kitty limit, but she did it so they wouldn't end up in the street... or alley... wherever homeless kitties go... then we got them.
We were actually trying to find someone for them to go to prior to us taking them, because we used to have pet rats. When all of the rats passed away, we figured, what the heck.
You should have seen me 'cat proofing' the place... never really had cats before... it was amusing looking back...
My big hang up was that I was afraid they'd just hide under furniture, come out to eat, and sleep all day. But they are both very social. Oreo wakes up with me, follows me around until I leave, talking to me the whole time. I get home, it's Harley's turn, lap cuddles while I use the computer, sits next to me during dinner, always is ten seconds behind me when I head to the bedroom so he can get the good comfy spot on top of the blankets first.
First time we met these two, Harley flopped down in the doorway when we were leaving and meowed the whole time as we stepped over him, still meowing as we headed out the door. Silly cat, must have known.
