We are going to attempt to go and see V for Vendetta tonight. *cowers a little* That mask is fucking freaking me out. I used to have nightmares when I was a kid of some guy wearing a mask like that. When I saw the first promo for the movie, I just about hid under the couch. It was just.. too similar and too freaky for me to handle.

However.. I was reminded that I watched the entirety of Silence of the Lambs with my eyes closed, and still managed to write an A paper on it (ah, film class, gotta love an easy A). So, if need be, I shall close my eyes, or stare into my bucket of popcorn. Mmmm, popcorn.

And now, the Friday Fiver:



1. What's the weather like? Very rainy and dreary. Grey skies and flooding.

2. When is the last time you felt appreciated? This morning, when I packed Mark's lunch and washed his hair before he headed to work, and he snuggled me in thanks. And, at the same time, the kitties were snergling me. It's all good.

3. What is the last bad news you heard? 'There is flooding now in downtown Milwaukee, so make sure you don't take the tunnel. An alternate route for getting there would be to take Lake Parkway and continue to the offramp at Lincoln Memorial Drive.' Which meant, lots of lost drivers were packing in the route I take which is normally fairly clear. Dammit.

4. What is your favorite sad song? Hideaway by Erasure; at least, at the moment it is. I mean, it's hopeful, but what I interpret from it is that there's this teenager or young man who tells his parents that he's gay and they basically either toss him out or he runs away. But it seems hopeful in the end, because it's like there's someone telling him it'll be okay in the end and someone will love him. [It's also what I based Glorfindel's early history on, so, again, quite a bias there from that - still, I think it has great lyrics and wonderful music]

5. Tell us about something you're obsessed with: The aquarium. Ever since the baby fish were born, I have been watching the tank like a hawk. (The babies are swimming all over the tank now, btw, it's so cute to see these mini little versions of the bigger ones. Discovered yesterday why Gwee gets so frantic when the betta or the gouramis come near to the cave - didn't realize that's the cave of love... heh...)

Hugo's voice will make you forget the mask and if you sit with your eyes closed you are going to miss so much. I saw it the first weekend it was out and it blew me away. I am going easter weekend to see it at the IMAX in london which should be fun.

I hope you enjoy the film, I think you'll especially like the speech using all 'v' words.
