They paved paradise; almost
I was in the park today. The park that I use as the basis for 'Valinor' as I write it (as in, location wise, where things are... because with the lake where it is, it's like being on the eastern shore of Valinor).
Firstly, the bridge is out. The big, beautiful bridge with the canopy over it - they are redoing all of it; all the old wood except the entryway is gone. *pouts*
Secondly, two other bridges are in major disrepair. One looks somewhat intentional...
Thirdly, and a major peeve - the 'front lawn' of 'Erestor and Glorfindel's cottage' now has a flippin' fence right at the ridge where the drop is down to the 'sea'. A big bloody fence. I stood in the spot where I wrote a number of Valinor stories, where I read the Fellowship and parts of Two Towers and where I drew pictures of Erestor and Glorfindel. I mean, I stood near the spot - have I mentioned the big bloody fence they put up? Runs right through it, 'cause you can see the spot where my blankie all last year on the ground kept the grass from growing.
Rasafrasafric...
AND, worse yet, they ran the fence between these two big trees that are there. Seems inconsequential, right? *pouts* These are the two trees I wrote the scene between Gwindor and Finduilas with; these are the two trees I sat between when I was coming up with the 'abridged' version of LOTR.
And, when I need them to inspire as such, these are the two trees.
Now, there is a fence between them.
And no place for me to sit.
*pouts more*
A happy note to leave anyone reading this on, though. As we were heading back to the car, I stopped right next to this one massive hugeass tree that I love that is near the lot. Mark was on the other side (BIG TREE) and I had my hands on it and looked up and said, 'I wonder how old you are' and I heard in reply:
"Hooom, Ha-rooom! Now, I don't ask yoooou how old yooooou are, doooo I, little elf?"
hee hee hee
So, of course, I had to give the tree a hug. (yes, heh, both of them ^_^)
