The short tale of Peek-a-... something.

About five years ago, Maggie brought a kitten home. She and mom had gone to the pet store to pick up whatever and once a week they have a kitty adoption day. Mostly cats, not kittens.
In one of the cages was a scruffy little thing. She had been found in a storm, in the jaws a dog that had been shaking her violently. Not expected to make it, with major eye infections.
So, of course, she was adopted into the family. She became the big ol' fat cat in very short time.

Maggie went to Kentucky, and fat cat moved into TJ's room. Residence was taken up on his bed, constantly keeping vigilance when he played Halo or whatever other game.
TJ went to Oklahoma, then later Unca Sam sent him overseas. The fat cat stayed on his bed, then moved to the back porch (don't worry, it's enclosed), then eventually under the Christmas tree.
Then, everyone started to notice... she was limping. Totally not good.
What was thought to be an infection turns out to be cancer. Her foot, sadly, does not look like a little kitty paw anymore, and they think it is all the way into her hip.
On Friday, Monty is taking her in to the vet, who said they could try to just remove her leg (um, the cat's leg, not Monty's leg...) however, kitty has lost half her weight and we've had enough pets with cancer over the years to know it's not an infection, and it's not going to get better. She looks tired, she looks very tired. She's younger than Harley by a year, which of course is making me huggle my kitties more than usual today. But, Pikachu (known formerly as Peek-a-boo, but around us kids, Pikachu was so much more appropriate) had a longer life than was ever anticipated, and luckily, I got to snuggle and cuddle with her quite a bit in that time.
And, feed her french fries. Man, did she ever love french fries.
I know I'm okay now, but Friday, blah. I don't look forward to Friday at all. Even though I won't be there, next time I'm over at home base, there will be one less fluffball trying to leap on me. And, though Mr.Kitty is an awesome cat and Rumpleteazer is a cutie, neither of them had Pikachu's personality. *le sigh*

Took these pics tonight when I went over to see her; wanted to take them so that you can't see her foot at all.
Ah, there's my Harleycat... must go snuggle kitty now...
