So, this morning, I come in, and the first thing I always do is check the tank. (Last three days, it's not been a happy thing, obviously)

I left the variatus I picked up last night at home; probably I'll watch them over the weekend and bring them in on Monday. I like to be here a full week when I add new fish. Anyhow, I come in, and I can see something pink attached above the water in the tank.

Wandering over, I discover, it's a large clutch of eggs. And, not tiny either.

Now, I know for a fact they can't be from the fish - remember, all female one species, all male of the other, and a catfish with no friends (who, by this point in the week, is totally aggitated). 'Sides, last I checked, fish need water.

Now, the other day, I noticed the big snail was wandering above the waterline. Didn't much think on it. And now, there's about two hundred apple snail eggs sitting there, and she's got this new appendage she's waving around (scaring the fishies, i might add).

Tomorrow, I'm going to bring down my two home snails and dump them into the tank with her... if the eggs don't get fertilized, nothing'll happen (er... yeah.. ) John's right... this is the aquarium of love...

Is your tank an Imladrian tank? Horny snails, like our elves. LOL I don't think I have ever seen baby snails.

*hugs*

Loving your fish tank stories (not the sad ones) because I had fish for many years when I was a child & teen... I used to raise Fancy Guppies and sell them to the fish store for 25 cents a baby. It was challenging to decide if the girls were holding eggs so we could put them in the brooder...and loved seeing those teeny tiny guppy babies in the bottom of the brooder in the morning... I also had some neon tetras and a few cardinals and one day there was a baby cardinal in the tank. It managed not to get eaten, though I was sure it would. My brother had a goldfish that he got tired of so I stupidly put it in the 5 gallon tank. Next day 1/2 my guppies were gone. The nasty thing. My dad took him to work and put him in the 10 gallon tank at his office with the angelfish. Mr. goldfish grew to gigantic proportions (for a tank goldfish.) Then dad bought a fish called a Jack Dempsey. Tiny little thing, really. But it ate the giant goldfish. Ack. What a sight.
