zhieOkay. Last night, mom and I ran about town before everything closed up. Looked at sewing machines at K-mart; there was a tiny little one I knew would not work for 30 bucks and regular sized ones that were 125 or more.
Made it over to Joann's just before closing time. Went right to the machines, with the intention of looking at the cheap ones. Before I could get all the way down to that part of the aisle, mom points to one of the more expensive ones. Briefly I glance. Tis on sale. $300 machine for $129. I glomped the box (there was only one there) and scurried up to the register with it.
mom: do you want to look at the other ones
me: no, i'd have paid this much over at k-mart, and this one does more
mom: they have one here that is 119 and does 18 different stitches
me: this one does 80
mom: ...
me: ...
mom: ...
me: this is heavy
mom: i thought you wanted to try to spend as litte money as possible
me: yes, but for ten dollars more, i'll get the one that won't conk out in a year
so, i have a new sewing machine now... it's a lot heavier than my Brother is/was and much quieter.. i was able to sew without waking up Mark, so that opens new possibilities. It threads weird, but i can deal with that. And all kinds of new toys. Ultimately, it means that i basically blew most of the cash i was going to bring along to D*C for buying stuffs, but on the other hand, do I really want to be toting a bunch of stuff home on the airplane from GA? Not really.
I sewed the sleeve onto the tunic, and it looked really good. Then, of course, i tried it on and grumbled for a bit. although the rest of the shirt fits fine, i can't raise my arms very much - i have to keep reminding myself i have kinda bigger upper arms than average.. it's the book lifting, honestly
so, that means i have to be careful and try to adjust the dress pattern for that. meep... now i'm even more freaked out on ruining the dress...
oh, and Agie made me a bunch of really neat icons! *glomps Agie* 'cept, y'know what? i just realized that last night i downloaded them to my computer, and never loaded them to my user pics. i'm a dork. that is all. oh, and i have a blueberry donut sitting here. k, now i'm done.
