I'll be brief. It was one of those days.
An hour long meeting turned into 3.5 hours.
I came home to find my computer acting wonkers.
It boots up... and reboots up... and reboots up... and
You get the idea.
It's still under warrenty. I took it in.
They will need 3-4 days to do the diagnostic. The tech tried to get it to run.
It's the hard drive, almost certainly, he said. The OS is also corrupt.
Let's try the backup recovery.
The recovery partition.. is also corrupt.
Will cost about 20-25 for the OS replacement disks. Another 100 to see if they can recover anything from the hard drive.. which, he said, is not very hopeful. So, that second part, I'm taking it to another place that's better with that sort of thing after they do the diagnostic.
Fun.
So, we drove to the bookstore, though, I was not much into that as my mind went over what is on the hard drive and no where else.
--All my online RP convos with Jules.
--The next bit of 'Eagle and Dove'
--The next bit of that MPRG I was doing
--Another MPRG I started and never posted
--This short thing I wrote where Glorfindel threatens to dip Erestor's braid in ink and runs off laughing... just because I never figured out the rest of it
--Probably other stuff I can't remember
--All my websites
--All of SayAye's old website (that's right; I downloaded the ENTIRE thing, and sometimes when I miss it lots, I go load it up and pretend I'm just surfing it like I used to back in the day)
--All my TC stuff
That more than anything made me sad.
So at Borders I picked up the 4th of the DVD sets. Will have to pick up #3 eventually.
Got out to the car, and planned to go to Kopps to cheer up -- Kopps, a custard and burger place.. and... the battery light in the car goes on.
I ended up driving all the way back home (about 10 miles) praying a lot and actually drove to the repair place after calling mom (was going to take it to her house since hers was much closer to where I was). She ended up meeting us at the CarX, and drove us home, but first, to McDonalds, since we had not had food yet... and then on the way from there to home, we drove by the car place... and there was much noise.
A car horn going off.
At first, we thought it was mine, but it turned out to be one in the back with an alarm on it. So, we called the police... but the owner of it showed up (apparently his car alerted him that someone was trying to mess with it.. how cool is that?) so after THAT, we got home.
So I thought, I'll charge the wagon, and use that.
Except, the power cord for the charger... is missing.
So, I am waiting for a call from dad, who works at the same place as me, to see if he can drive me in the morning, and then if the car is still not ready tomorrow I will hitch a ride home when my sister gets off work (who also works at the same campus.. family connections are awesome).
I am tired. And, as Panthro says, Someone needs their ass kicked.
Unfortunately, this is just one of those situations where there's no way to figure out whose ass needs the kicking done to it.
BTW, the next chapter of Unforgettable... not on the hard drive. On my flash drive. Needs more. I will be getting to that next...
