...so I can find out what that 'number three' bad thing is going to be.
Unless the nasty acid reflux the other day counts. Then, I'm good.
This morning, about twenty minutes after I got in, a student came into the library led by one of our student workers, saying his heart was racing. He was pale and freaking out, so right away, I directed one staff member to call 911 while I talked to the student and got him a chair. Poor kid; good thing we called the paramedics right off... they got there after five minutes (longest five minutes of this poor guy's life, no doubt, I felt so bad because all I could do was watch for the ambulance and tell him they were on their way)... anyhow, I heard the one EMT say his heart was beating so fast he couldn't take a pulse. They got him to the hospital; I'm sure I'll get the full report from the student worker who is his friend.
Only seven of my students showed up for class today -- is today college skip day or something? Anyhow, that's not among the real bad things... the real bad thing came midway through my class, when one of my night librarians came in and said she had to talk to me. It was one of those serious-type 'we have to talk's, not the 'hey, i gotta ask you/tell you something' talks. So during the break for my class, she gave me her resignation. Blah! Y'all might recall (or not, I'll refresh memories!) the hellish time that was the interview process back in late November/early December. And now, just when everything had fit into place and all new people were trained and we were one big happy pirate family... meh. Meh I say!
I do have a person in mind, from the interviews... she came in third and missed by only one or two points... the top three were close, and no one else we interviewed qualified... I have to call HR tomorrow and see what I need to do.
Tomorrow afternoon, I have a council meeting... and then tomorrow evening, another! I have a feeling the new library plans will get killed during the evening meeting, but I won't know til I go.
Ooo, but I got to go do some Tolkien research (more like information gathering) for noldoparma tonight. And that made it all better.
DreamElf goes offline in 11 days... all I have left to back up/transfer off of it are the images from the galleries and the content text from Nit Wits. The domain doesn't expire for another year, just the hosting service. I'll be transferring the domain to attach it to littlebalrog's host, so hopefully, dreamelf will be running again soon, just not quite the way it was before. I just can't run all those modules, and the party room was never utilized that much anyhow, and instead of multiple galleries there's just going to be one. Ah well, more on that later, for now, bedtime.
