Tolkien and Cheesecake

I love learning new Tolkien stuffs! Especially stuffs as cool as what I learned tonight. Such as, I have a Tolkienesque name.
Well, not to begin with, it's really all Mark's doing.
:D
When Tolkien first invented the character of Beorn, he wasn't called Beorn. He was called Medwed. Which comes from the name Medved, and is actually pronounced as such (v sound, not w sound). Therefor, I gots a Tolkien Name! Go me! (Er, and go Mark, too!)
When we went to get our books signed by John Rateliff, he was quite pleased to actually meet someone with said name (especially since part of his talk tonight was on the name and the origins and such). So, we're going to get some info back to him regarding the origins, since Mark's got some genealogical stuff. ^_^
And then, after the reading and discussion and Q&A, Bonnie and Bruce and Mark and I went over to the Cheesecake Factory in the parking lot.
The Cheesecake Factory, which could be seen directly out the window, behind Mr. Rateliff, the entire talk. The inner-Glorfindel had the mantra going the whole time...
'If I'm good, can I have cheesecake? If I'm good, can I have cheesecake? If I'm...'
...you get the idea.
Chocolate raspberry truffle cheesecake... yummy. And, there's a lemon raspberry cheesecake slice in there, too. That's for motivation to get him to give me the rest of Chapter 38 of Unforgettable... If he's good, he can have the cheesecake...
...gotta love having to bribe muses, eh? Anyhow, I am now really hoping we can make it to the talk tomorrow, which will focus on Lord of the Rings (tonight was The Hobbit). *nods*
(I was actually a little disappointed that there was a small crowd, however, it made me feel a lot better about the audience numbers I was pulling for the panels at DC... I would say, his numbers were just slightly better than what I was getting for the talks I was doing, and as his was a free event first of all, and second, as he's, gosh, WAY more famous, and published and all... I don't feel so bad now. The people who were there tonight were uber enthused, and the place was just radiating or oozing or something Tolkienismishyness. Plus, I think now the phrase "Keep your peckers up!" will gain household usage... *snickers* ...must get together a list of Tolkien sexually tilted lines... it'll add hours on to my lecture time from the great professor in the great beyond, but, I think it just might be worth it....)
