So, ten year reunion this evening.
Lamest. Event. Ever.
It was nice seeing the group of people (that I see a couple times a year anyhow) but other than that I talked to two other people (the person running it doesn't count; she had to talk to everyone).
For the most part, the 'popular' crowd (which we shall now refer to as the alcoholics) sat out at the bar, refused to come into the hall where the 'commoners' were, and generally just spent the time getting drunk.
The DJ was too loud, and his jokes were not funny. Also: today's music and the worst of '97 do not mix well. And when you toss in a song from the 60s, it just makes it... weird and bad.
The raffles were pitiful, due to the fact that they did them pretty late and by then many people had left or were out at the bar drinking, making for a really, really long time of raffling.
I do believe I was overdressed, considering many people were in jeans and I was actually in a skirt. But that's okay, I looked nice and they looked skanky. Wait... some of them looked that way in HS, too....
My sister (hours earlier) dared me to walk up to the front, find the microphone, tap it to get attention, then state 'I make more money than any of you and you all suck'. Considered it after I had a few people give me the good ol' 'stare at the geek' look. Decided they were still not worth my time.
But the talking with the close group of friends from way back when was nice, and Mark was with me, also nice, and that was good. Then spent an hour in the freezing parking lot continuing to talk. Then home for nachos while sitting on the new couch ^_^
But now I'm cold and need sleep...pictures later...
Oh... our colors in HS were purple and gold... so I have a golden rose from it... felt more appropriate for me at this time in life than it did ten years ago when they gave us golden roses at graduation. ^_^

Date: 2007-10-14 03:53 pm (UTC)Good for laffos, and it was nice to know I still have an uncanny knack to annoy 99% of my class without even trying. Given they suck, yes - I'm proud of that :) I had expected things to be beyond HS but it was still so...'high school'. Weird. Funny also to realize that yes, anyone worth still talking to, you already do and then you remember why you 'lost touch' with everyone else. The food was free at least ;)
You have to admit, there was some amusement factor to it all, no?
