And now onto... Gildor

a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
Well, he's the first elf we meet in LOTR - he was mysterious, and I wanted to know more about him. He had some clues with the Inglorion bit, and it just seemed like an interesting idea to carry it through. I added him very, very early on as Glorfindel's lover (pre-Erestor, even); I didn't realize the history would be so rough (initially, it was supposed to be Glorfindel/Gildor, with Erestor being hopelessly in love first with Galadriel and later Arwen and eventually either finding someone in Valinor or living out his days alone... yeah, that so didn't happen)
b. One of his/her best traits.
He's a bold, dynamic leader. And, he's extremely intelligent (not so much wisdom, though).
c. One of his/her worst traits.
Untruthfulness... he can lie without batting an eyelash, and without thinking it's morally wrong.
d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
It's actually pretty easy to write him. He's one of the more vocal muses, when he wanders in.
e. The story/chapter/paragraph/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character.
In Unforgettable, when he enters the city for the first time and tells them outright, he'll be breaking the rules, thanks, and, he'll be leaving when he wishes without any trouble. His confidence shines through at that point, and his heritage - the fact he's got Glorfindel stuttering a bit while Gil's just calm and smiling.
f. My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.
In Valinor, he's with Maedhros now - he's going to end up mellowing out a bit. I'm working on a part earlier than that for one of the Orange Bunnies (about 125 4th age) where he publicly confronts Erestor. Also, I have a feeling that there's eventually going to be a run-in with him and his ada (Felagund) at some point...
I'll get to Melpomaen as soon as I find a Mel icon...

In his way he's almost as much fun to explore as Erestor - you get a name, a group no one knows much about (the Wandering Companies) and off you go.
