zhie: (gosling looking up)

Brief life update before more elves...

*Sam & Rosie, the campus geese, have returned. Rosie's already honking and fussing around the lightpole that they made their nest last year. Last year was apparently the first year that they ever had goslings make it to adulthood (five of the six). I think my dropping large amounts of cracked corn to counter all the bread the little kiddles feed them probably helped a bit. Merry, who had been hurt last year in a storm and had to have a wing amputated, is doing well at the nature place they took him to. Our security guy is a softy about animals and paid for the surgery and such for Merry.

*Last night, there was a Two Towers gathering, with large amounts of pizza, kringle, and chocolate. Also, lots of soda, keeping me awake. Two Towers gathering eventually became a smaller gathering at our place for Silmarillion reading & discussion, fanfilm script writing, and unexpectedly then breakfast and gathering moved to yet a third location. By 6am, I finally needed some sleep. Went home, dreamed that Gene Simmons sold me a Kodak printer. I was hoping for Elf-dreams, but I'll take Gene as a runner-up on that.

*Ordered me up some manga. Yay for 4-for-3 at amazon.

*Neck continuing to do better. Have a weird rounded pillow thing that makes for much happiness. The cat doesn't much like it, but, oh well.

*My mother accepted the position of associate pastor at a church the next county over, which is awesome. She did a wedding there back in the fall (was a sudden thing where she was called to a hospital; this lady was having triplets that decided they were ready NOW and the wedding was weeks away, but she and her husband-to-be wanted to be married before the babies were born... so, since mom was close and a lady they felt more comfortable asking her if she could come down kinda ASAP, and then they asked if she'd do the real wedding 'cause they liked her so much), and they remembered her and contacted her last month to talk to her about having her take the position. I think I've mentioned it before, but everyone in my immediate family - the sibs, parents, and I - are all different religions. Strange, but true... mom and dad always encouraged us making our own choices, including choice of religion. Mom will be the backup for weddings and from what I understand will eventually be holding one service each week. However, the head guy is apparently close to retirement, so in some ways this is lead in to perhaps moving up to that position eventually. Which, is really cool... my mom was that kid in Catholic school who questioned why women couldn't be priests and would have been if they'd have let her. So, go mom! Took her a while to reach that goal, but she's there.

Alright, back to elves...

Awww, geese. :] We have hawks (or maybe they're falcons, it's hard to tell) at my campus. A bit more gory and less cute. But still fun.

I forgot to ask you how the Two Towers gathering went. :] Glad to hear it was a success!

And congrats to your mom. :] That's very exciting. I hope she enjoys it, as it sounds like she'll do a fine job.

*hugs*
