Um...hi. I know I'm not exactly a friend of the person of this blog, but one of my other lj friends linked here on their post, and so I just wanted to comment.
1) I did vote Obama. I guess I missed the socialism stuff, or maybe people are making mountains out of molehills, I don't know. I stopped listening to people make comments like that after they were the same ones forwarding me letters that Obama was the anti-Christ (They did that with Bush, too, actually). I'm neither Republican nor Democrat; Obama just seemed the lesser of the two evils. Which goes back to why I hate politics: I'd rather just strike down evil than choose between it. But, I do hope my choice is the right one and that it doesn't come back to bite me in the ass.
2) I certainly hope it doesn't become like Atlas Shrugged. But hey, you could always go on strike if it does. ^_^
3) You're not necessarily gonna get Obama either. Like I've been saying: either one we get is gonna die; one from old age, the other by assassination. I don't care what they say, the first black President (close enough) is gonna have PLENTY of people trying to shoot him, there's no getting around that.
4) The tax thing you mentioned...maybe I'm not reading between the lines or something...? I don't want to "redistribute the wealth" as it seems is Obama's slogan or whatever. However, why can't there be, like, just one flat tax rate. Like when you tithe, you proffer 10% of your earnings, right? Well, the more you make the more that 10% becomes; like a person who only makes $200 a week loses $20, and a person who makes $200,000 loses $20,000. The rate doesn't change, just the amount of earnings. Well, that would be my ideal, anyway. I don't want to ride on someone else's gravy train unless I managed to work my own way into a seat. What I'm tired of seeing is punishment for being poor. We work our asses off and they just keep adding taxes to us, while rich people get all these tax breaks. I'm confused; who needs a "tax break" more? *shrug* That's just my take on it.
I hope I managed to voice my views without blatantly insulting anyone or sounding childishly naive (though I am childish). I will admit I lack information, so forgive me if I've stated something wrong. Thank you for your time. Peace, love, and nappiness.
