oy vey, i have to deal with this tomorrow when i go into work, i certainly wasn't expecting so much of it here... but now i'm looking through the posts and i'm thinking, sheesh... is this really where the country's gone to?

Hillary I could have dealt with... with Hillary, I knew what we'd be getting and what she'd do and that she actually knows the sort of things that one in the position would need to be able to do... even Biden I would have made a few jokes about and went on my way, despite the fact the man seems to walk around with his foot permanently lodged in his mouth. But... come on... does the majority really favor socialism? All election, I just kept thinking of those scenes of Hitler from 'Triumph of the Will', and figured the American public was smart enough not to go down this path, but apparently, I was wrong.

and now i have this urge to go... shoot a moose or something... odd...

*jumps onto cafe press to order 'Palin 2012' tshirt before the rush*

so, back to nano now, though, considering, if this is going to be anything like what happened when Dole lost (i really wanted him to win, too... W, eh, I'm still not sure how it is that, seriously, the dumbest republican gets elected, followed by the scariest democrat... i'm starting to think this election thing is rigged... seriously...) and now Liddy's out, too? dammit.

where was i going on that... oh, right, bitter over stupid liberal president thing...

anyhow, if this follows anything like the last election i was upset about, i'll distance myself, be bitter for a while, refuse to play nice with democrats, and then channel my feelings into some fanfiction, that is, if i even feel like writing

damn i hate the liberal media right now... at least good ol' Rush'll be there tomorrow afternoon to help me through this time of sorrow...

i'm off to overuse the word 'maverick' and dream of the possibility of a recount

those of you on the ol' f-list who are now shocked and appalled I would say such things, I won't be offended if you've removed me by the morning (guess I won't be surprised if you've removed me and didn't make it to this part of the post)... of course if you post comments that an elephant would disapprove of, I reserve the right to get all mavericky and respond to you using a combination of quotes from Oscar Wilde and various types and flavors of cheese... you have been so warned...

so enjoy your party time now, and when the country goes to hell in a pancake box because we couldn't afford a handbag to send it off in... i'll point to whichever story i wrote in the meantime that alludes to the general principles of itoldyousoism

i'm really good at this whole 'being bitter' thing... tomorrow i'll have to strive to incorporate the rant into my nano...

hmm, still haven't hit my quota for the day... maverick, maverick, maverick... there, my work here is done

I'll be bitter with you

Wow, if you do have a lot of liberals on your f-list I'm pleasantly surprised this post has not be hatefully flamed yet. Kudos to them, then. At least, they're not the ilk I'm used to running into on the interent! You are, after all, entitled to your opinion particularly on your own LJ.

That said, I too was surprised people so readily voted for the obvious socialism (although I've felt this way about major Dem candidates for years, Obama was overtly so - you couldn't miss it). I was never that excited about McCain either (for the record, registered Independent and pretty cynical about government over all so I'm usually a 'lesser of two evils' type in these things), but some long-time Dems I know actually said they'd vote McCain because they didn't like the socialism thing either. I guess there wasn't enough. McCain had some tough odds - the media seemed even more biased than usual this time out, or so it seemed to me. Although he could have fought harder and a lot dirtier. Ah well.

I think over all, this was just a knee-jerk emotional reaction to an unpopular current pres and since they can't vote him out, they punish his party instead - I'm not sure it says a lot about Obama. I reckon a rock could have run for Pres on the dem ticket and won this one. He is surely not as qualified as McCain to be Pres. But I guess nobody looked at it like hiring the best applicant for the job with the best resume - reason lost to emotion. Worse yet, the Dems control the congress too, last I saw, so yeah.

But hey, since it's always some nasty greedy republican's fault things get fucked up, I fully expect Utopia now. Nothing can stand in their way, right?? Ah but I'm sure if anything does go wrong it'll somehow still be Bush's fault - or something >.< Funny how that works. Granted, administrations can leave a lasting policy legacy, but a trend I notice is liberal dems in particular admit to no failings and would rather point the finger at someone else. And their admins never leave that lingering bad legacy. Hmmm, how are they just so perfect?? lol
I am willing to concede Republican fuckups (trust me, not rightly pleased with Bush over several points at the mo), and I'd just like to see dems take some responsibility for things that fail, too.

Kinda like in Michigan. I'm sure by now most people have heard the whining about our situation here. Yet we keep voting the same people in. Mainly, liberal democrats. As Gump said, stupid is as stupid does. Oh but who do they blame? Yeah. Bush. He decided to pick on Michigan in particular, that meanie. Couldn't be our local leadership. Never.

I could go on, but maybe I should in my own LJ. I'll close with my further disbelief that most of the reps that voted for the bailout bill won their seats back here in Michigan. Now either, there weren't as many irate people as I thought, or people just don't pay attention. Well, no wonder we get what we get.

Oh yeah, at least the world will love us again :: rolls eyes ::

Anyway, no sense dwelling on it. Let's get through these 4 years and see what happens next round.

Um...hi.
I know I'm not exactly a friend of the person of this blog, but one of my other lj friends linked here on their post, and so I just wanted to comment.

1) I did vote Obama. I guess I missed the socialism stuff, or maybe people are making mountains out of molehills, I don't know. I stopped listening to people make comments like that after they were the same ones forwarding me letters that Obama was the anti-Christ (They did that with Bush, too, actually). I'm neither Republican nor Democrat; Obama just seemed the lesser of the two evils. Which goes back to why I hate politics: I'd rather just strike down evil than choose between it. But, I do hope my choice is the right one and that it doesn't come back to bite me in the ass.

2) I certainly hope it doesn't become like Atlas Shrugged. But hey, you could always go on strike if it does. ^_^

3) You're not necessarily gonna get Obama either. Like I've been saying: either one we get is gonna die; one from old age, the other by assassination. I don't care what they say, the first black President (close enough) is gonna have PLENTY of people trying to shoot him, there's no getting around that.

4) The tax thing you mentioned...maybe I'm not reading between the lines or something...? I don't want to "redistribute the wealth" as it seems is Obama's slogan or whatever. However, why can't there be, like, just one flat tax rate. Like when you tithe, you proffer 10% of your earnings, right? Well, the more you make the more that 10% becomes; like a person who only makes $200 a week loses $20, and a person who makes $200,000 loses $20,000. The rate doesn't change, just the amount of earnings. Well, that would be my ideal, anyway. I don't want to ride on someone else's gravy train unless I managed to work my own way into a seat. What I'm tired of seeing is punishment for being poor. We work our asses off and they just keep adding taxes to us, while rich people get all these tax breaks. I'm confused; who needs a "tax break" more? *shrug* That's just my take on it.

I hope I managed to voice my views without blatantly insulting anyone or sounding childishly naive (though I am childish). I will admit I lack information, so forgive me if I've stated something wrong. Thank you for your time. Peace, love, and nappiness.

Hey, nice to see you here. Hope zhie doesn't mind our mini-side-discussion here.

I don't have a problem with your responding, and the reply was nicely put w/o digressing into flames and such. Always game for a civil discussion, so I'd just like to throw some responses out there to your points. Food for thought, as it were.

1) As for the socialism, I was skeptical about how much he could do being one dude, but now that there's a dem majority remaining in congress...who knows. Where the ideas come from are from the man himself. I didn't get my info from forwards (I hate those, btw!), but rather by watching him and hearing what he says. The reason why the 'joe the plumber' thing was an issue, is because he basically told the guy he is for redistribution of wealth. That is a socialist ideal, which while it may be fine for some people and some countries, I am not a fan. I dont' see us transitioning well at all. That could just be me.
We'll have to see how far he gets in our pockets. I'm not against helping a fellow man in need, but that is what charity is for. I strongly feel that is NOT the job of government. They screw enough up already. Look what they did to the housing market in the name of helping the poor.

2) lol! Yeah, but alas, I am not one of the thinkers. Don't think anyone would miss me if I went on strike ;)

3) I really hope that doesn't happen. I'd never wish such a fate on another human being, so I hope they have him well-protected. Otherwise, that would just be tragic on so many levels.

4) I'm not economist, but flat taxes are interesting. I also heard an idea the other day that proposed going a step beyond that...no more percentages - taxes would be a set value for everyone. He likened it to going to the store to buy bread. It costs what it does for everyone, regardless of income or ability to pay. Not sure how that would work or what the cost should be (clearly, not so high it's burdensome for the bottom bracket), but it was something I hadn't heard before and was interesting.
About punishment for the poor...I'm not rich by any means. We might just be breaking into official middle class status this year, after 14 years of farting around in the lower levels. The thing is, for a lot of years, we didn't pay taxes. Oh yeah, we paid them in throughout the year. But, we got it all back come tax time, so our net loss to federal taxes was 0. So...I ask the question that why should people who essentially pay no taxes get any breaks?
I think we get too caught up in who needs and who deserves and so on, and lose sight of the simple fact that the rich earned their wealth and should likewise not be punished for their success. Just because they can 'afford' it doesn't justify it. It is not the governments, and by extention, ours to take.

In closing on taxes (yes, there is an end to my rambling) I'm actually pissed there are any taxes on income. The gov got along w/o them for decades. Pretty sure the constitution, when originally written, left out income tax as a good idea for the feds to take. There was a reason for that, and I think we're seeing it now. Yes, money needs to be collected for the government to run, but they should have never allowed it to come out of our wages. I resent that immensely. The feds are too bloated and way too involved than intended, I believe, and with all Obama's talk of doing this and that, I just see it getting worse.
Here's a link for some history on taxation:

If there is ever a time machine invented, I'm going to go back to 1913 and kick the congress in the ass.
