oy vey, i have to deal with this tomorrow when i go into work, i certainly wasn't expecting so much of it here... but now i'm looking through the posts and i'm thinking, sheesh... is this really where the country's gone to?

Hillary I could have dealt with... with Hillary, I knew what we'd be getting and what she'd do and that she actually knows the sort of things that one in the position would need to be able to do... even Biden I would have made a few jokes about and went on my way, despite the fact the man seems to walk around with his foot permanently lodged in his mouth. But... come on... does the majority really favor socialism? All election, I just kept thinking of those scenes of Hitler from 'Triumph of the Will', and figured the American public was smart enough not to go down this path, but apparently, I was wrong.

and now i have this urge to go... shoot a moose or something... odd...

*jumps onto cafe press to order 'Palin 2012' tshirt before the rush*

so, back to nano now, though, considering, if this is going to be anything like what happened when Dole lost (i really wanted him to win, too... W, eh, I'm still not sure how it is that, seriously, the dumbest republican gets elected, followed by the scariest democrat... i'm starting to think this election thing is rigged... seriously...) and now Liddy's out, too? dammit.

where was i going on that... oh, right, bitter over stupid liberal president thing...

anyhow, if this follows anything like the last election i was upset about, i'll distance myself, be bitter for a while, refuse to play nice with democrats, and then channel my feelings into some fanfiction, that is, if i even feel like writing

damn i hate the liberal media right now... at least good ol' Rush'll be there tomorrow afternoon to help me through this time of sorrow...

i'm off to overuse the word 'maverick' and dream of the possibility of a recount

those of you on the ol' f-list who are now shocked and appalled I would say such things, I won't be offended if you've removed me by the morning (guess I won't be surprised if you've removed me and didn't make it to this part of the post)... of course if you post comments that an elephant would disapprove of, I reserve the right to get all mavericky and respond to you using a combination of quotes from Oscar Wilde and various types and flavors of cheese... you have been so warned...

so enjoy your party time now, and when the country goes to hell in a pancake box because we couldn't afford a handbag to send it off in... i'll point to whichever story i wrote in the meantime that alludes to the general principles of itoldyousoism

i'm really good at this whole 'being bitter' thing... tomorrow i'll have to strive to incorporate the rant into my nano...

hmm, still haven't hit my quota for the day... maverick, maverick, maverick... there, my work here is done

*can't help but giggle at the mavericky-ness*

I'm... not sure how I'm feeling.
I'll be honest - I voted Obama. But it wasn't a pro-Obama vote. And it wasn't exactly anti-McCain. It... was a personal choice of lesser of two evils. And I won't try to debate politics with you, as I will surely epicly fail. ^^;

I suppose it's at the "wait and see" point now.

I'll look forward to your ranting stories. I see an Erestor rant somewhere in the future.

Palin '12, bby? And Hillary '16?

I totally agree with you *hugs* At least with Hillary it wouldn't have been so bad... the first thing I read when I woke up just now was a note from dad on the steps going down to the first floor saying 'We're screwed' ...and yeah that pretty much sums it up. Sorry but most people who voted for him don't really understand a lot of the things he's going to do.

I think you show guts speaking your mind on it. I voted for McCain, even though in a blue state my vote amounts to a hill of beans. Way back when I liked Ron Paul, I wonder if I shouldn't have just written him in and voted my conscience.

Welcome to my friends list :)

We are in total agreement, which I hink last happened in 2001 or so.

Heres a qoute from MTV of all places

"

MTV: Our next question is from Matt from Iowa: "If your desire is to spread the wealth around, what incentive is there for me to try to work hard? If I am only going to get more taken away from me, the more money I make, why wouldn't I just slide into a life of relaxation and let rich people take care of me? And a lot of people are asking similar questions, and I wanted you to specify. What does this mean exactly?"

Obama: What is amazing to me is this whole notion that somehow everybody is just looking out for themselves ... You don't just give tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires. What you do is make sure the tax code is fair ... So this idea, that somehow everybody is just on their own and shouldn't be concerned about other people who are coming up behind them, that's the kind of attitude that I want to end when I am president.

Did you catch that, folks? As president, Barack Obama is going to end this idea of self-reliance. He is going to make sure that government is there to tell you when you should be concerned about the people behind you, and he is going to make sure that government is there to take your money to help these people. We have already established that wanting to keep the money that you earn is "selfish" according to Obama. On the other hand, wanting the money that someone else has earned isn't selfish. We also need to say that it was refreshing to see this particular question ... especially on MTV."

Thanks to neal Boortz for the blurb

I'll be bitter with you

Wow, if you do have a lot of liberals on your f-list I'm pleasantly surprised this post has not be hatefully flamed yet. Kudos to them, then. At least, they're not the ilk I'm used to running into on the interent! You are, after all, entitled to your opinion particularly on your own LJ.

That said, I too was surprised people so readily voted for the obvious socialism (although I've felt this way about major Dem candidates for years, Obama was overtly so - you couldn't miss it). I was never that excited about McCain either (for the record, registered Independent and pretty cynical about government over all so I'm usually a 'lesser of two evils' type in these things), but some long-time Dems I know actually said they'd vote McCain because they didn't like the socialism thing either. I guess there wasn't enough. McCain had some tough odds - the media seemed even more biased than usual this time out, or so it seemed to me. Although he could have fought harder and a lot dirtier. Ah well.

I think over all, this was just a knee-jerk emotional reaction to an unpopular current pres and since they can't vote him out, they punish his party instead - I'm not sure it says a lot about Obama. I reckon a rock could have run for Pres on the dem ticket and won this one. He is surely not as qualified as McCain to be Pres. But I guess nobody looked at it like hiring the best applicant for the job with the best resume - reason lost to emotion. Worse yet, the Dems control the congress too, last I saw, so yeah.

But hey, since it's always some nasty greedy republican's fault things get fucked up, I fully expect Utopia now. Nothing can stand in their way, right?? Ah but I'm sure if anything does go wrong it'll somehow still be Bush's fault - or something >.< Funny how that works. Granted, administrations can leave a lasting policy legacy, but a trend I notice is liberal dems in particular admit to no failings and would rather point the finger at someone else. And their admins never leave that lingering bad legacy. Hmmm, how are they just so perfect?? lol
I am willing to concede Republican fuckups (trust me, not rightly pleased with Bush over several points at the mo), and I'd just like to see dems take some responsibility for things that fail, too.

Kinda like in Michigan. I'm sure by now most people have heard the whining about our situation here. Yet we keep voting the same people in. Mainly, liberal democrats. As Gump said, stupid is as stupid does. Oh but who do they blame? Yeah. Bush. He decided to pick on Michigan in particular, that meanie. Couldn't be our local leadership. Never.

I could go on, but maybe I should in my own LJ. I'll close with my further disbelief that most of the reps that voted for the bailout bill won their seats back here in Michigan. Now either, there weren't as many irate people as I thought, or people just don't pay attention. Well, no wonder we get what we get.

Oh yeah, at least the world will love us again :: rolls eyes ::

Anyway, no sense dwelling on it. Let's get through these 4 years and see what happens next round.

Well, now I am expecting the recession to screech to a halt tomorrow, rainbows to be up 24/7 and unicorns to start roaming the streets. I am also thinking that maybe I should let Obama "spread the wealth" this direction, quit my job, go on welfare, and spend my days drawing fan art. ;p

I didn't like either candidate by the way. But I am 100% sure that my taxes will go up, with none of the benefits coming my way. Again. Damn, so very selfish of me to want to hang onto my hard earned $$.

C'mon now! GAY ELF PORN! It ain't exactly standard fare for the more conservative set.

That said, I'll really be happy to see something-- ANYTHING-- in the media besides politics. I just want some stupid tv without any sort of social message. Is that so much to ask?

I guess I'm a liberal of a different colour (yellow in the UK) but I don't see why you can't speak your mind in your own lj. You are entitled to your opinion as much as anyone and it would be a pretty boring place if we all agreed with each other all the time, we wouldn't need elections all the time either.

The only thing I have never figured out is why you have to spend a whole year campaigning, over here you vote for your memebers of parliment and which ever party gets the most seats that's who your prime minister is, I think for a general election (every 5 years) the campiagning goes on for around 6 weeks and that's it, though as far as I'm concerned that's about 5 weeks too many. :)

Yes, yes...one of your frickin' liberal lj friends here! C'mon, zhie. You know I love you, and I hope the feeling is mutual.

We disagree on politics...so what? You and I also disagree on religious beliefs...so what?? I don't want to only be friends with people who agree with me on everything. I call that boring and elitist.

I say rant, pout, be bitter...do what you want. Luckily we live in a country where we have that option. Because we differ on these things doesn't make me right and you wrong or vice versa. We are different. Thank the cosmos! Imagine the *yawn* fest if we weren't.

So here's a big fat *hug* from one of your libber LOTR friends!! Now onto Nano where I am currently sucking serious arse on word count.
