1. How did you get involved in the fandom? What was your first place/haven within the fandom? I had just spent a hiatus from fandom life while I was getting my masters and spending a lot of time with my gramma who had cancer. I had really focused on school and gramma those two years -- plus, I was newly married, so there was that, too. My sister Maggie was already in the fandom, and I didn't get into the fandom until after seeing the second movie and being pissed that 'they killed the arrogant elf'. I really didn't know a whole lot about elves at that point, but I learned pretty fast. So my first stop was a place called Haldir's Harem/aka Haldir's Whores... and Lothlorien was the first realm I dropped into.

2. When did you first read Tolkien's writing? First read, or was read to, about a year before I was married (1999) -- Smaug (aka husband Mark) used to read bits of The Hobbit to me when I came to visit him. During our honeymoon, he read the whole thing to me, complete with voices.

3. What did you read first? The Hobbit.

4. When did you first see the movies? I saw each movie on it's opening night, with the exception of Return of the King, which I saw an hour before opening night! My friend Bill had a girlfriend who worked at a theatre when the first movie came out. I was sitting after work in his attic with our friend Mike, and he got a call from her. It was opening night, and the theatre had a LOT of tickets left for Fellowship of the Ring. She wanted to know if we wanted any -- she could get them for $1 each, because they wanted to fill the showings up, jump the numbers and such. So we planned to go -- I remember calling Mark from the attic and saying something like 'I don't know if you want to go to this or not, but...' A couple nights later, after seeing the movie, the four of us -- Mark, Bill, Mike, and I -- were sitting at an all-night diner talking for hours about the movie, and that was the night we decided we wanted to learn how to play D&D because it was something missing from our childhoods that really, really should have been there. About a week or so later, our lives consisted quite a bit of working in the day, playing D&D at night... it was great. I didn't see Fellowship in the theatre again until the rerelease two weeks before Return of the King. When Two Towers came out? I was there almost every Sunday afternoon with Jake -- we saw it ten times. And mostly? We were going for Haldir. (Kept hoping he wasn't going to die... I mean, Haldir doesn't die...)

5. How did you come to be involved where you are now in the fandom? When I got here, I was all 'this is going to be great -- i was a fairly good sized fish in a small pond while in the ThunderCats fandom, now i can relax and be a tiny fish in a huge ass lake'. Yeah, that didn't last long. Well, how did I get here? That's something The Talking Heads have been asking for years... letting the days go by... it just happened. It's probably one part purple bunny, two parts silliness, and half a cup of living in the gutter, or something like that.

6. What was the first fanfic story you read? For this fandom? I think it was one of the Ansereg fics. It's very, very hazy what I did that first night I jumped on. Kid in a candy store, folks. Too many things to click on.

7. What was the first fanfic story you wrote? Was it Tolkien centric, or another genre? The first fanfic I ever, ever wrote was when I was in second grade, and it was ThunderCats, and I don't think it exists anymore, sadly. And there was that and Super Mario Brothers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Star Trek and Pokemon and other stuff I can't recall all before I got to this fandom. But in this fandom, the first fanfic story I wrote was co-written with Maggie and thus far left unfinished called 'Friendly Wagers'; the first two I completed on my own (since I don't recall which came first exactly) were Blue Ribbon and Daro.

8. Name 3 of your favourite Tolkien characters. Why do you like them?

Shit, only three? Well, I kinda like them all...

I'll come back to this in a day or two... actually, I like all the elves. Now, if you're reading this, and there's an elf you want to know just why i like them, ask, i'll let you know. How's that?

9. What are 3 of your least favourite characters? Why?

Bill Ferny. Someone needs to bitch slap that man.

Shelob. Like anyone loves a huge ass spider.

Morgoth. Okay, as a bad guy, he's awesome -- but seriously? Dude needs to be bitch slapped -- twice.

10. What genres do you like to read the most? I don't think it's a genre so much as I like to read my own stories. I guess I'm a literary narcissist that way. I like a little of everything, so I write a little of everything, but exactly how I want it to be.

11. What Tolkien eras/cultures/events/ ect. do you feel you have the strongest knowledge in? Elves, specifically the genealogy and history. And, I think I can name more canon Elves than just about anyone -- and know who they were and who they were related to (plus the horrible way they died, if applicable).

12. What areas do you feel you can help other authors with? See above. It's not uncommon for a message to pop up on IM that says 'Hey, who was Erien?' or 'How many balrogs did Ecthelion kill?' or 'Would it be too squicky for Fingon and Gil-Galad to get it on?' -- and I love answering questions, comes with being a librarian, plus, I have such an extensive Tolkien library now I can look up whatever wikipedia doesn't provide! (And the answers are 'Fingon's daughter (aka Ernis), but she was written out; Four; and Ew, yes, unless you make Orodreth the father of Gil-Galad and even then it's questionable at the family reunions' Also, I just like talking to other authors... idea bouncing... general discussion... hence the FRIDAY NIGHT ELF CHATS (shameless plug... love it...)

13. What do you feel are your weaknesses as a writer? What would you like to improve on? Weakness? What is this weakness you speak of? The force is strong in... okay, seriously? Starting stuff and not finishing it. Very bad about that. Short writing attention span at times, and I'm not quite sure why that--- ooo, a bunny! *scampers off*

14. What Tolkien era/culture/events/etc. would you like to know more about? I would like to be able to get the geography down. For someone who used to ace the 'fill in the states' tests, I'm sucking when it comes to geography. I have general ideas on things, but I have to whip out Fonstad's atlas so often I'm getting paper cuts. So that would be nice to just sit down and study some time.

15. What are you currently writing, what's your latest work in progress? How long have you got? Bwahahahaha... who know?! Ummmm... oh, yeah, Unforgettable, that needs to get done. Just have to get myself focused on it. I do have some Pink Bunny stuff to get working on. Also, an idea for a fic that will be titled Sono Luminus and another with the working title Fathers and Sons, and then this other whole thing that's sort of Morgoth attempts to return that I've played with for years and probably won't be written, but it mulls around in my head at times. Also? A pairing a couple of people who may read this know about, that involves Fingon, but since I thought I knew where that was going and now it's going another way I can't say until I get there and do it. Oh! And this thing that is sort of based on the Olympics -- that's mostly where my brain has been the last 72 hours or so. Erestor and Celeborn wandering into Valimar for some reason, being mistaken for athletes until someone remarks they're obviously too old, and of course the two old elves feel like they want to prove different, and get wrapped up in this whole thing. So, yeah, that's where I've been. This is why a lot of things never get finished -- I jump around so much, so many muses, so little time.

16. What is your favourite story you wrote? Why? Oi.. depends on the day. I really like the chapter 'Candles' from Fluff'n'Stuff, and I think the fact that some people at DC walked out on the reading of it makes me love it even more. Silver & Gold I enjoyed writing, it was not the first version of that tale as it went through many revisions, and I just enjoyed getting to know those muses since it was the first time I really concentrated just on those two. Unforgettable, perhaps -- but unfinished, I can't say for sure. Wild and Untamed Thing I like, too, and Taming Haldir -- that one because I knew when I was writing it that Erestor was Haldir's father, and Erestor knew it, but the readers had no clue. And Morgoth Trembled was another I enjoyed writing, and the bunnies, of course. Oh, and A Mortal Life. Okay, that's it, must move to next question.

17. What is your least favourite story you wrote? Why? Probably the first two that appear on the bunniverse listing... Puzzles and What. I like them enough, but they just don't lead off well. Other than that, If Your Lover Ever Knew -- I ended up disliking so much, I removed it from the site and from the bunniverse listing, and as far as I am concerned it doesn't exist in it anymore.

18. What do you hope to accomplish in your future in the fandom? TOTAL FANDOM DOMINATION! Actually, I just hope I have a future in the fandom. My track record is not that great -- I tend to love a fandom wholeheartedly and very passionately, and then take a break, and then leave. It happened with ThunderCats and with Star Trek : The Next Generation. Yes, I still love those fandoms, I still watch the shows when they're on, but it's nothing at all like it was. I just hope this is the fandom I'm going to stick with -- and actually, the only thing I think will move me from this realm will be when I start to publish my original works, because I can see myself getting wrapped up in all of that with the same passion. Hopefully, I'll keep one foot in here even when that happens.

*grin* It is rather interesting reading about your journey into fandom.

2. Man, your man is a total keeper.

7. I remember ThunderCats! Though your reply reminded me that I may have started out slashing turtles. Subconsciously that is - but I love Donatello and Leonardo. Twiddle dee, twiddle dum.

12. I wish I know my time zones better - I have to try to make it for Elf Chats.

14. I know! I've been trying to draw a map from all the material Fonstad has, but Lord... I have a new found respect for geographers and cartographers.

So snagging this meme.
