INSTOFIMO!

zhieI have resigned myself to the fact that half of my ideas are brilliant and the other half are utter crap. Unfortunately, I don’t have foresight to know which are which until I just jump in and try them.
So… I have this… idea. It came from the mention last night on the Erestor Lover’s list that one should really try for the goal of finishing stories instead of just starting them. And even though I think I’ve finished more stories than 99% of the people in the LOTR fandom, I’ve probably also left unfinished more stories than 99.9% of the fandom.
So… onto my idea. Okay, here goes. Thinking along the lines of NANOWRIMO, and New Year’s Resolutions, I’m thinking of having a massive writing of endings for February. We can call it INternational STOry FInishing MOnth or just INSTOFIMO for short. And because it’s fun to say Instofimo… it sounds like something a magician says to open a door or something.

Gandalf: *grumbles*
Or maybe, what the heck, let’s go from January 15th to the end of February (on whatever day it decided to end this year… 28th I suppose… overachievers may continue through to February 31st if you like). I’d start on January 1st, but I’ve got Screw Yule going on, and that’s like the anti-story finishing event if ever there was one.
Why am I posting this instead of keeping it to myself? Well, there have to be some other people out there with the same dilemma as me! And insane ideas are best put into action in a group. Mob mentality or something. The more of us together will at least be able to commiserate if nothing else.
Anyone up for it? If so, I’ll go make a group or LJ community or something… or I’ll hijack one already in progress. Nanoerlo only gets used in November… I’ll have to pick up the soda cans from nano, but otherwise it’s clean…
