“Wait, let me get this straight. You had sex... with an Elleth.”
Glorfindel gave Celebrian a look usually reserved for Elflings. “Yes.”
“Did you do a check? Make sure it was really...” Celebrian looked away as she was glared at. “Sorry. I just... I mean, everyone knows how you are. Females just know that you are uninterested, and I could see a male pretending... actually, no, why a male would want to wear a corset and a girdle is beyond me,” she readily admitted to her cousin. They were strolling along the beach; Glorfindel refused to enter the house.
“It really is an Elleth. Her name is Nerdanel, and—“
Celebrian squeezed Glorfindel’s arm. “You mean Feanor’s Nerdanel.”
“I mean MY Nerdanel,” he corrected her with no amount of uncertainty.
“Huh. Well, I guess it makes sense, then,” said Celebrian. “I mean, both of you were in need of someone. So she was spying on them at the exact time as you were?”
“Yes. A coincidence, perhaps, but then again I like to think romantically that perhaps there were higher powers involved.” He sighed and then took in the salty sea breeze. “I think we were the only ones who could really help each other heal.”
Celebrian nodded in agreement. “Will you be coming back here with her?” she asked hopefully.
“Maybe for a visit,” he said. “Not to live. I hope that is not too much of a disappointment.”
“I suppose I should have guessed as much already,” Celebrian admitted. “I will miss you very much, though.”
“You can visit any time. Elrond, too,” added Glorfindel. “We would be more than happy to have you both stay with us whenever you wish.”
“I should think I should like to come just to see it all for myself,” Celebrian said with a teasing smile. “I never would have expected you to chance like this.”
“Neither did I,” he said, and he chuckled softly to himself. “There is one other small matter, and I was hoping you might… well, I should tell you what it is, first.”
“I think I can guess it,” Celebrian said with a grin.
“Oh, do you?” Glorfindel was grinning now as well. “And what does my cousin guess?”
Celebrian laughed and tapped her nose. “I do not wish to be a jinx.”
“No, I suppose not.” Glorfindel smirked. “Well, anyhow, I wanted you to know.”
“Now that I know of your little adventure, I have a pretty good idea where it led you.” Celebrian smiled. “I look forward to the next update.”
“That will be very soon. Expect us to call upon your husband in three month’s time.”
“Ah, so that is why she did not travel with you this time,” said Celebrian knowingly.
“And that is why I must return to her soon.” Glorfindel whistled for Asfaloth, who dutifully trotted to him. “It was good seeing you again, dear. Let your husband know that I am sorry to have missed him, but, I have matters to attend to.”
Celebrian nodded as Glorfindel mounted. “Safe journey to you. I look forward to seeing you again soon – and to meeting Nerdanel,” she added.
