“She’s beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.”
Feanor rolled his eyes, but nodded in agreement. “I could have told you that.”
“Beautiful? Nay, she’s gorgeous.” The amended compliment came from Glorfindel, who was holding the lady in question. “Adorable is also acceptable.”
“My apologies,” said Erestor. “Gorgeous and adorable, then.”
Glorfindel smiled. “I just wish she did not sleep quite so much.”
“Well, such is the way of babies,” said Elrond, who had come to play mediator if needed. It seemed, however, that the focus of everyone was the tiny red-headed Elfling bundled in a green blanket that was bespeckled with embroidered yellow flowers – a gift from Celebrian the night before the babe was born. Glorfindel had insisted upon it whenever he held his daughter, which was an almost constant occurrence.
“Have you named her yet?” asked Feanor. “That was always my favorite part of having children.”
“Oh, really?” questioned Nerdanel dryly. “I recall it being something else, if you get my drift.”
“Well… and that,” he admitted. “You know what I mean.”
Nerdanel shook her head and leaned toward her current husband so she could tuck the blanket back in where it had slipped aside. “We are not about to rush into names for her. Glorfindel shall take as much time as he needs to name her properly.”
“So, when we leave next week, she might still not have a name?” asked Feanor impatiently.
“Do you see what I had to put up with?” asked Nerdanel of Glorfindel. He chuckled and shook his head, and out of the corner of his eye as she and Feanor continued to carry on their banter, Glorfindel caught Erestor’s gaze.
They no longer shared the strong bond they once had, and could no longer communicate nonverbally as they once had in each other’s mind. Instead, Glorfindel took a moment to check on his newborn daughter’s wellbeing, and then looked back at Erestor and mouthed to him ‘Are you still happy?’
Erestor held his breath for a moment, glanced sideways to be sure the others were occupied, and then gave a slight nod. ‘You?’ he mouthed back.
Glorfindel’s smile spoke volumes, but he nodded to make it clear. The smile wavered slightly and he mouthed, ‘I still love you’.
There was a nod across the room, and Erestor pretended for a moment that there was something in his right eye before he nodded, licked his lips and mouthed back to Glorfindel, ‘I still love you, too’.

Hey. I'm going to keep flailing and being confused over this, you got that? Not because I don't love you (we covered this <3), but because I also <3 Ress x Fin forever and ever. ;0
Like - the straight guy who wanted a baby ends up leaving his lover for another guy; and the gay guy ends up making a baby? /mind boggles. They're so silly.
Or - and this is what always made me pat myself on the head and say it'd be okay - I know in one of your stories somewhere it's Erestor talking to... Namo? Manwe? One of them. And they were all we took a piece of your soul and put it in someone else, and you'll know them because they'll convince you to like your father's name for you in a funzy way. And that was so Fin, am I wrong? So - so - aren't they...? D: Why?
... *cuddles lambie more* ... *and needs to write more Ress/Fin so she can know it has happy endings*
I still love you. I just... *clicks tongue* I need some time. *sniffle*
- over-dramatics aside, this is really touching. The ending... adakjndabwh. Damn it. It's so sweet and frustrating and just... gah. If I wasn't such a hardcore Fin/Ress lover, I would adore this. I mean it. It's got some sort of happy end, and yet, it's still got that lingering everything-isn't-resolved vibe. I applaud it even though I'm going to pretend never to have read it.
*hugs*
