As I sit here meowing back and forth with Harley (who thinks bedtime now would be good), I try to figure out what to write that won't jinx me.
All of the prayers, happy thoughts, pixie dust, elf snuggles, and the like have helped very muchly -- not just to keep me from being a nervous wreck, but the sellers accepted our offer.
Now, we have to wait for their bank. It's a short sale, which means that the house is being sold for less than what is left on the loan. They do this when it's so, so close to foreclosure (June) that in order to try not to lose more money on the foreclosure, they do this.
So, now the bank crunches numbers and decides if this is going to work for them or not. If it comes back no, I don't think we'd have another offer that would work, to be honest. We weren't very far from the asking price on it. We do know there was another offer placed at almost the same time as ours, but it was so incredibly low they didn't even consider the other offer.
I'm optimistic that our strategy worked. We offered more than we would have if this was a normal sale, knowing how short the timeline is on this. The idea was, they'd hopefully take the offer instead of countering (which they did -- I actually also expected a counter, to be honest) and now, just the bank.
We do have to clean up the basement so that the inspector doesn't have a fit. We're okay with that; the current owners live out of state so they can't come and do it. It's actually something we put into the offer to do.
Anyhow, to keep me busy, I've started two big trays of seedlings in the back room where they'll get a good amount of sun and not be attacked by kitties. Right now, the cucumbers and morning glories are kicking the asses of all the other plants, being two to four inches tall each. Besides those, I'm trying to get some tomatoes (yellow and red), some multicolored peppers, spearmint, catnip, four or five kinds of melons, coleopsis (sure I butchered the spelling of that), moonflowers, violets, and I'm sure there's something I'm neglecting in there, too.
I have another tray I haven't started up yet, was waiting to see if anything took particularly well or particularly horrible. Also have peas and carrots, but according to the packages, those will grow up in 60 days, so I'd rather wait a bit on those (and probably plant directly with those?). So, that's my new thing. Getting up in the morning, going to the other bedroom and opening the shades and checking to see what has popped up and what has more little leaves, etc., etc.
Hmm, Yahoo doesn't want to load. I think that's a sign I should go and snooze. That, and my kitty has wandered off... yes, sleepytime now...
