My mother would watch the auction every year and had bought a few things. One year she got a floor to ceiling cat scratch post/seat thingy that today you would find for probably 10 times as much and smaller... and in another she got a copy of a Monet that a computer was used to recreate the brush strokes (it hangs now in my living room) that's abosutely beautiful for considerably less then they were asking... Gads, she could get the bargains!
But your right. I tuned in to it (I think it was last year) and was sorely disappointed.
I think part of it too is that people have started realizing that maybe that 'stuff' in the attic they got from g'ma may actually have some value.
