and didn't
May reminded me that I squeed about my ISBN and then never said more on that.
I got the proof last week -- there's something awesome about holding it in your hands.
It's smaller (thinner) than I expected, but I have to remind myself, it's half as many pages because it's printed on both sides.
There's a lot of 'oopsie' errors, like page numbers printing weird and some pages on the wrong sides, but it's awesome all the same.
And shiny. The cover is mainly red-orange (it's a picture of the sunset I took out the library window some weeks ago), and the shininess makes it ultra shiny.
So that is where I am on the poetry book. I need to revamp a few things, send in the corrections and get the proof v.2 and hopefully be ready to roll ^_^
Oh! And license plates... the actual plates came in for the baby car, so parked side by side in the lot right now are ERESTOR & GLRFNDL... pictures forthcoming. I took them, but... left the camera in the car. OH! and time for The Apprentice! Gotta go!

Re: Completely random question
Date: 2009-05-09 12:18 am (UTC)Anyhow... there's a couple different things... there's Ringers & there's Tolkien Scholars. You can be both, but typically most are one or the other. Ringers are the more 'fandomy' type and TS are the, well, more booksy scholarly ones. However, there's quite a few out there -- myself included -- that just use the term LotR-fans.
(It also seems like there's different levels of Tolkien Scholars, too... from the ones at the top who did stuff like actually study with Tolkien to the novice scholars who have done more than watch the movies or read a book or two. Someone needs to create a 'you know you're a Tolkien scholar if...' quiz... there's probably one out there already...)
Man, I love triumvirate... hey! Did you see the new Trek movie yet?
