When I was writing 'Glorfindel Unleashed', I turned to Karen Wynn Fonstad's 'Atlas of Middle Earth' for the map of Gondolin - would that be of any help?

Oh, and I just found this link - I haven't tried the download, but it might help:

Professor Fonstad, bless her soul, was extremely helpful for me when I started writing Unforgettable.

The trouble is, I had to go and add a theatre near the market. And decide where the houses would be. And add some slums. And a nice little pub Erestor likes to visit there. And a second fountain. So, while I can go and get a general outline of it from her... I really wrote myself into a ditch by filling Gondolin with, for a better word, stuff.

Eventually, I need to go back and retrace my steps and make sure nobody's house is on top of someone else's barracks! (And also, figure out which floor of the tower everyone lives on) Unfortunately, it's nano-time, so I can't do that now *pouts*

I appreciate the link, though! (Someone else out there has a great little map somewhere showing the progression of the Fall of Gondolin battles, can't recall the link at the moment, but it far surpasses the scribbles I have at home of the event)

Yeah, I thought it might be something like that. AU's and author additions are like Topsy - growing beyond expectations :-)!

I've been hoping that my brain would eventually figure out it, but it hasn't.... what is nano?

nano is short for NaNoWriMo - national novel writing month

www.nanowrimo.org

besides this being my 5th year to write a novel, it's also my first year as the head of the Milwaukee/Waukesha area, which had led to more fun and a lower word count than usual
