I learned that I accidentally scheduled a meeting... in someone else's office, and not the conference room I'd thought I'd booked. Luckily, the meeting is Friday, so I have time to send a 'meeting room changed' notice.

Learned why Chef Ramsey's always got parsnips mentioned at some point during some show. Cooked with them as part of a pot roast, and they are yummier than they look. Because they don't look yummy. In fact, they look like carrots that Bunnicula drained.

Was listening to the radio, and it sounded like the song 'Under Pressure' by Freddie Mercury and David Bowie. So I turned it up.

And that's when 'Vanilla-Ice-Ice-Bay-bee!' blasted out of my vehicle. I had enough sense to roll up the windows, but the light turned and I couldn't change the channel. As I cursed at the radio (who plays that song anymore??), I was inspired for a title for my Nano-novel. Now, I just need a plot...

Finally, while on the bus, I saw something quite adorable. Bus was pretty packed, and I take a bus that goes through the airport. A guy and a little kid got on, and then there was another guy behind them... turns out they were all together, as was figured out when the really cute kid called one daddy (as in 'Daddy, you got to hold on! You gonna fall over!') and dad (as in 'How long will the airplane fly to gramma's house, Dad?'). It was obviously their son's first airplane trip, and he was SO excited.

Nobody said anything, but there were some rude looks and someone (when the figured things out) moved to a seat further away. Anyhow, part of the conversation was interesting... they were on the topic of how the one was wishing he could be in the army or marines, but can't, and were discussing the possibility of 'don't ask don't tell' being repealed, and the one who wants to be in the service says 'You know how chicks will watch commercials and see puppies or children and just start crying? I'm the same way with military commercials -- I'd *like* to be all I can be.' I'd judge he was mid-twenties, and the other maybe late twenties, early thirties. Anyhow, they had the most adorable kid. Much better behaved than the children of one mother earlier in the day who basically let her kids just run up and down the aisle and sit wherever. They were keeping him in the conversation for the most part and when we got to the airport, the kid was just bouncing with excitement to see the airplanes.

Oh, other really cute moment was when the would-be-military guy was talking on how his brother was getting engaged. He had gone with his brother to help the bro pick out the ring, and then lectured his brother that he HAD to talk to his girlfriend's parents BEFORE asking her, because that was the PROPER thing to do, at which point, his partner asked 'so, if we could ever get married, are you going to go ask my parents first?' and he was immediately all 'of course I would' and the other guy was all 'you're so sweet'.

Anyhow, that was my bittersweet story. It was really such a nice family dynamic, but it comes with the dual sadness of it not being legal for them to be married, and not being legal for the one who wants to serve in the military to be able to.

So that was my day. So far.

Awwwwww. <3 That sounds so sweet and precious. Really makes me angry at people who are so anti-gay. How could that ever be sinning or evil? That's a loving couple with a happy, healthy child. Sometimes I really get mad that I'm a human. :<
