Traditionally, for the last 26 years, it goes up the Friday after Thanksgiving, right after mum and I get back from 5am power shopping. Today, the tree is up, and it is lighted and decked out with even candy canes (that we had to go to four different stores to find). This is a good thing. Let me explain.
On Saturday night, I went to sleep feeling kinda sad and lonely. Miss the lil brother. Muchly.
Dreamed about him. Was dressed up for halloweenness giving out candy and he was telling me how he wanted to be there with us.
*le sigh*
Sunday, ran to parents to pick up my sewing machine to fix costume. House more or less empty. Came back for football game and trick or treat.
Find mum and Monty on the porch. Enter house.
Find dad (i nearly typed 'ada', Monty and I have taken to calling him that recently) on his chair dozing off (Packers are losing).
Note brother's friend on couch. Confused.
Eyes wander to rocker. Note tall blond from the backview. Run into the kitchen thinking someone is playing a trick on me.
Frozen in kitchen. Mark comes in there. "TJ's here!"
Yeah, no shit. What happened? Army kick him out? We won the war already? What the-?
Pounce brother. Tis the only thing I could think of doing. Gushed about missing him. Got 'pat pat' on the head. Huggled more, nearly cried. So much with the happiness, despite the fact I was wearing elf ears and my war wagon was needing to be towed. Lil brother sitting in living room definately makes up for car with dead battery.
^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ *does happy kabuki dance*
He is here until Friday. I know I won't see him all that much, but seeing him at all is so wonderful. It's like Christmas in October.
So, the tree is up, and as we speak Monty is putting up the yard lights already, so that TJ can have Christmas at home this year. A wee bit early, but better than 18 mos. from now as regularly scheduled.
Oh, and Blind is done... but... yeah, that compared to lil brother being here... huge huge difference. Still happy about Blind being finished, but...
my lil brother is in town! ^_^
