He's the only author who gets his very own section in Dewey.

The next time I see 821 S527 or 822 S527 I'm going to track down the cataloger and slap them with a wet trout. Or a rubber chicken. Or something to get the point across.

People who don't know what 822.33 is for shouldn't be catalogers.

PLEASE, DO.

(Not because I'm a librarian or have any idea what 822.33 is for, but the imagery is just too great for words)

I am quite tempted... I could go look at the initials to see who did it, but I'm going to be nice this time.

I'm a little on edge at the moment (if that wasn't evident) from having cataloged over 250 books in two days. (Normally, a heavy load would be about 50 in one day, so I am REALLY needing this weekend... and, a trout, if I return to find any more of this silliness.)

ps - 822.33 = Shakespeare; he's so special he gets his own entire section away from the other authors

catalogers....

You have been a librarian how long? Don't you know that some people don't read instructions and that there are some [gasp!] who don't even know how important Shakespeare was/is to literature?
It has been forty years since I spent three years working in my high school library and volunteering at my public branch. I can only imagine how difficult things must be today for those like yourself. You could always hit them over the head with the complete, annotated works. :) :) :)
