My husband has been going through dog book after dog book to find the perfect dog for us (for when we get a house, since we're kinda at that point finally). He has read practically every description of every dog to me.

Used to have, back when I lived with my parents, mixed dogs, like, we had a sheltie/shepherd once, she was a ditz... and a retreiver/greyhound, hyper and silly guy he was... I remember a beagle we had, loved him... anyhow, usually my parents would find these dogs that were old that people didn't want anymore and adopt them so they wouldn't be put down just for being a few years too old... I'm digressing, how did I do that? Yeesh, need more caffeine I think...

Wolfhounds. In one of my favorite novels, there is a mention of them. The idea stuck with me, although in reality I was thinking maybe if I had the chance I'd get a poodle (big poodle, no frufrus) or maybe a great dane... but after all the dog discussion, I've reassessed and decided, might as well just get the kind I really want when time comes for it. So I want a wolfie doggie.

Erm... ^_^ I'll just go pet the zoo goats, hee hee.

I didn't know you were another cat person! Meet Erestor's cats.

Kitties

There they are, Oreo and Harley. Or Mistress Erestor and Fincat... I didn't give them their original names, we actually don't know who did. But they had been together since Oreo was born, and the previous, previous owner was just going to let them run loose because she was moving and couldn't bring them along. The person who took them was over her kitty limit, but she did it so they wouldn't end up in the street... or alley... wherever homeless kitties go... then we got them.

We were actually trying to find someone for them to go to prior to us taking them, because we used to have pet rats. When all of the rats passed away, we figured, what the heck.

You should have seen me 'cat proofing' the place... never really had cats before... it was amusing looking back...

My big hang up was that I was afraid they'd just hide under furniture, come out to eat, and sleep all day. But they are both very social. Oreo wakes up with me, follows me around until I leave, talking to me the whole time. I get home, it's Harley's turn, lap cuddles while I use the computer, sits next to me during dinner, always is ten seconds behind me when I head to the bedroom so he can get the good comfy spot on top of the blankets first.

First time we met these two, Harley flopped down in the doorway when we were leaving and meowed the whole time as we stepped over him, still meowing as we headed out the door. Silly cat, must have known.

Oh they're so cute! Don't know if I ever told you we have 6 of the little beasties. The 4 boys are all litter mates - a solid black short hair (Theodore Roosevelt - Teddy), a solid black long hair (Maximillian Robespierre - Maxie), a short haired black with a white chim and chest and paws (Nicholas Nickelby - Nikki, also known as little shit - the runt of the litter at only about 8 lbs), and a gorgeous siamese (Bailey) who weighs in at almost 20 lbs. and is one of the longest cats I've ever seen. He's my little buddy - follows me around in the morning, and loves to ride on my shoulder. He also has a vocabulary consisting of all 3000 sounds a cat can make - the others have a wide vocabulary as well. Amazing animals. The other 2 are older females who think they own the house - they keep the boys in line, that's for sure. Moxley sleeps on my pillow at night - she's gray with a white neck, chest and paws. Jane is the oldest - a teeny calico that appeared in our yard many years ago. She became a house cat last fall after a $1000 vet bill.

Thanks for updating the link to my site! Without having the new domain in Google and the old one redirecting yet, the only traffic I'm getting is through referral links! :)
