Speaking of.. I had a dream about the Feanorians last night, most of it centuring around Maglor.

You know you're into the fandom when you dream about it... you know you're hardcore fandom when you dream about the more obscure characters. Moreso when the dreams are purely fantasy adventure following a canon storyline without any sexual encounters whatsoever. It was focused on Maglor recalling the burning of the ships. Very sad, in some ways. Good cinematography. I always have that in my dreams. I dream in color, but this one was dulled, like Maglor was dimly recalling what happened.

This isn't the first time recently either that I've had a Tolkienesque dream. Had one with Gildor in it the other day; and a week ago or so had one that, again, was on a scholarly vein not a fanon thing or a smut thing, but it seemed symbolic and under I go looking stuff up, going to wait on sharing on that.

Can't get away even if I go to sleep...

Okay, so, here's the extra bit on the swap assignments that I mentioned to Dark and Nui...

After I posted that I had mine, and everyone started posting that they didn't have theirs, I started to wonder...

It was April Fool's Day...

I told Nui my suspicions, and as I typed away, she kept checking through her mail...

me: I'm at a page

Nui: still don't have mine

me: I've hit three pages

Nui: none yet

me: Woo, I made it over 2000 words

Nui: still nothing

Day two, still, practically no one else seemed to have theirs, and I had lunch with Dark. Told her what I thought was going on after she got a sneak peak at the fic to that point. Her response was to, multiple times through lunch, in a sing-song voice go 'you got punked, you got punked'.

Nui's I think was to giggle and laugh...

Heh.

However, it seems that suspicion was unfounded. Too bad... I was sort of hoping this was a joke assignment and that I'd get another one...

Working in New Gondolin is anywhere from five to ten times as intense as it was working in Rivendell. Today, it was five times harder than normal... so... like, twenty-five times as intense as... yeah, whatever.

By two-thirty, I had to go drag my ass into my office after a two minute discussion with my aide had me letting loose three 'fucking's, an handful of 'what the hell's, as well as an accompanyment of colorful monikers in reference to some of the other council members.

I am reminded of a song from 'Something Happened on the Way to the Forum'...

I've had a nap. And watermelon, and blueberries, and strawberries. Is all good now.

When I was in middle school, during the days when I had my first inklings that I wanted to be involved in politics, we held a mock election.

Amid laughter from my peers as well as the faculty of the school, I wrote in Tommy Thompson for president.

So, let's see... that was, about 15 years ago.
